Got a robocall saying I supposedly have a claim with hmrc. Hung up straight away and blocked the number.

Got a call from this same number a few times now, and it’s always the same thing. Don’t bother pressing 1, just end the call straight away. Been through it about three times - what muppets!

Didn’t seem right from the start, said it was HMRC and told me to press 1 for fraud. They kept going on about me being arrested, but I didn’t give them any info and just listened to a bunch of nonsense questions. After that, I just ended the call. It’s been about three days now - haven’t seen any police yet! Honestly, just hang up and don’t say a word.

I got a phone call yesterday from this number and just hung up straight away, but then I got a bit worried it could be legit since they called my mobile, not the landline. I’m familiar with HMRC and they never ring, they usually just send letters and expect you to respond that way. This kind of thing is really unfair on older folks - it genuinely terrifies them. My mum, who’s 86, has had a few calls like this recently and nearly gave away her info, but thankfully she’s quite sharp. If you’re unsure, just hang up. These callers can be really aggressive and unsettling.

Got a recorded call claiming to be from HMRC accusing me of tax fraud. The message said I had to press 1 or else I'd face a warrant for arrest. Obviously, I didn't respond and have now blocked the number - it showed up as 03002002997 on my phone.

I got a robo call from a number that looked like it was from HMRC, claimed I was involved in tax fraud and told me to press 1 or I'd get arrested. I didn’t fall for it and blocked the number, it was 03002002997 or something like that. Definitely a scam.

Got a call from 03002002997 but thankfully I let it ring out. Didn’t leave any voicemail or nothing.

Got a call saying I’m mixed up in some tax dodging and if I didn’t hit ‘1’ straight away, they’d send a warrant for my arrest. Of course, if you do press ‘1’, you get hit with a massive fee by the scammers. They claimed to be from the police, but I just hung up. Now I’m just waiting for the doorbell to ring - just kidding though. These kinds of calls are just made to scare older folks and those who might not be so tech-savvy.

Got an automated message about the same problem. Has anyone actually filled out the self assessment? And has anyone reported this to the police? Feels a bit dodgy to me, might be a scam.

oh no! i missed hitting 1 in time and now apparently there’s a warrant out for me or something!

I got a call from some robotic voice saying I was part of a tax scam. They never even used my name. They warned me I had to press 1 or else I’d get arrested with a warrant out for me. Felt totally fake to me.

I got a call like that too, and when I tried ringing back after I’d ended the call, no one picked up - it just went straight to silence.

This number popped up on my phone earlier today but I didn’t answer. I’ve gone ahead and blocked it now, though I’m pretty sure they'll ring from other numbers soon enough. Someone suggested I get in touch with my MP about this, might just do that.

This number rang me up saying they were from HMRC saying there was some fraud on my tax file. I answered and some bloke with an Indian accent started asking for my private info. I got a bit wary and told him to prove he was really from HMRC. Suddenly, the call just cut off. - caller: 0300 200 2997
