They had all my info and told me to pay £470 or else my case would go to HMRC, and I’d end up with a criminal record or might even get arrested. Total scammers!

Got a call from someone saying it was about tax fraud and if I didn’t hit 1 I’d get arrested. Sat there quietly, just waiting to see if the cops would actually turn up.

Apparently they're saying there's a warrant for your arrest if you don’t hit 1. I looked it up on Moneywise and it sounds like a scam. Tried to drop a link here but it wouldn’t let me post it.

Usually I don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t recognise, but I was actually expecting a call so I took this one. It felt a bit creepy tho.

That number, 0300 200 2960, rang me and somehow they already had my name and knew my dad had died. I guess they could’ve snagged that from Facebook or something. They claimed to be from some fraud tax investigation team. The bloke I talked to said he’d connect me to a lady, but the call dropped before I could speak to her properly. Before the disconnect, she mentioned my name and brought up my dad’s death. I didn’t say a word. Worth being cautious about what you share online.

Just like many others have said about 0300 2002960, I got a recorded message claiming to be from HMRC, telling me to press 1 to talk to someone about tax fraud. I didn’t press anything, I tried calling the same number back but it just kept telling me to call again later. People behind this should really be caught, the police need to step in because this is clearly someone pretending to be the government.
