Got a call from 0332002960 pretending to be from HMRC, but it’s a total scam. I checked with HMRC directly and they said if they need to reach you, they’ll always send a letter first. Best thing to do is just ignore and hang up.

That number, 0300 200 2960, rang me and somehow they already had my name and knew my dad had died. I guess they could’ve snagged that from Facebook or something. They claimed to be from some fraud tax investigation team. The bloke I talked to said he’d connect me to a lady, but the call dropped before I could speak to her properly. Before the disconnect, she mentioned my name and brought up my dad’s death. I didn’t say a word. Worth being cautious about what you share online.

Just like many others have said about 0300 2002960, I got a recorded message claiming to be from HMRC, telling me to press 1 to talk to someone about tax fraud. I didn’t press anything, I tried calling the same number back but it just kept telling me to call again later.
