This number belongs to a Scottish government office that handles bankruptcy cases. Lately, they've been flooded with calls because folks keep getting contacted by scammers pretending to be from HMRC. It seems like some kind of call spoofing is at play, making it look like the 0300 200 2928 is calling you, even though the real call comes from somewhere else. These calls falsely threaten people with arrest or fines over supposed unpaid tax. It’s all total nonsense and a scam. If you get one of these, make sure you alert your phone company about it.

Got this call saying I was gonna get arrested for unpaid taxes if I didn’t pick up. Totally felt like some dodgy tax scam trying to scare me. Legit sounded like a load of rubbish.

Beware of this tax office con! They hit you with crazy charges if you ring them back. Best not to call them at all!
