Back in June 2019, I got a call on my UK mobile - a number I’d shared a while ago for competitions and stuff. The caller ID showed something like 0300 200 1753. When I picked up, it was this robotic male voice pretending to be from HMRC, warning me about supposed tax fraud. They said if I didn’t press 1, they’d send a warrant for my arrest. I kept quiet and just listened until the call dropped. Clearly, if I’d pressed 1, I’d have let these scammers know I was an easy target. Faking an official Tax Office call feels almost like treason - they weren’t just bluffing about reporting me, they claimed they could actually issue a warrant. I hope the police get wind of these cheeky scams.
