I recently received a call from a certain number, claiming to be from HMRC. They made unfounded threats about legal consequences if I didn't comply. Fortunately, I was cautious and chose not to respond. I immediately contacted HMRC to verify the authenticity of the call, and they confirmed that it was indeed a scam.

If HMRC wanted to get in touch, they’d send you a letter through the post, never give you a ring. So yeah, just put the phone down straight away, no need to even answer! Easy peasy!

Got a call from 02821788475 at about 11:10 today - some bloke claiming to be Stephen Hawking rising from the dead! He said there’s a massive lawsuit hanging over me, and if I don’t ring back, I’ll face some serious money troubles. Can’t wait to see how this plays out! By the way, don’t blame the TPS - it’s only effective for genuine UK companies who’ve signed up and keep their info current. TPS itself doesn’t actually stop calls, it just holds a list of folks who don’t want marketing calls and asks trustworthy firms to avoid ringing those numbers.

My elderly mother, who is disabled, was contacted by these individuals once again. They threatened her, claiming that if she didn't respond, she would be arrested and imprisoned for a serious crime. Understandably, this terrified her. Luckily, she chose to contact me instead of them. I decided to search for the number online and came across this webpage, which turned out to be very helpful. Summoning up my courage, I called the number myself and found myself speaking to a man with an Asian accent who claimed to be from HMRC. Immediately, I firmly told him that I knew he wasn't really from HMRC. In response, he abruptly hung up on me and somehow blocked my ability to make outbound calls from my phone. Is there anyone who can provide information on where this number can be reported?

WARNING: DO NOT PROVIDE ANY DETAILS, THIS IS A SCAM.
Earlier, I received an automated message alleging to be from HMRC, urging me to contact them immediately. Intrigued, I returned the call and was greeted by a gentleman with a subtle Asian accent, insisting he represented HMRC. I inquired about his identity and the reason behind his call, but he abruptly ended the conversation by hanging up.

There are individuals with malicious intentions who engage in fraudulent activities, seeking unauthorized access to people's accounts in order to obtain money.
