Absolute scam alert! They claim to be from BT and tell you your internet’s been hacked, trying to get into your computer and all that. Don’t fall for it, total rubbish!

My call blocker stopped it in less than 10 seconds, so pretty sure it was one of those automated scam calls.

Some bloke rang claiming he was with BT OpenReach and said there was an issue with my phone line, which I hadn't noticed or reported. He asked if he could link a BT server to my laptop to run some checks. I said it sounded dodgy and asked for his number so I could get back to him. He said he got why I was wary but insisted it was the only way to find the problem.

Got a call from a guy speaking with an Indian accent claiming to be from a “Tech helpdesk” saying my Windows system was showing signs of malware activity and needed fixing right away. I played along for a bit - he wanted me to open some ‘eventvmr’ thing (didn’t actually do it lol) and then kept pushing me to enable remote desktop. The whole chat was basically the same as the story I saw in [#]mor10[###]/the-eventvwr-phone-scam/. Bottom line, he was trying to hack into my PC while I was talking to him! Really sneaky and dangerous scam to watch out for!

They phoned me once more but ended the call right when my answerphone picked up. It's so frustrating how these fraudsters keep ringing numbers on the TPS list using UK landlines and nothing is done about it.

I got a call at 9.45 in the morning but just let it ring through to voicemail. No idea who it was, but it’s almost certainly one of those phone scams. Cheers for the heads-up, everyone!

Got a call from a guy with a thick Indian accent who said his name was Eric and that it was about my computer. Felt off, so I reported it to the ICO. Honestly, everyone should report these dodgy calls so something gets done about them.

Got a call where no one spoke, just silence while the line stayed open, so I decided to block that number. Typical nonsense, really. The chap had an Indian accent and claimed I'd been dealing with security issues on my computer for the last fortnight. I made it clear that I wasn’t gullible and had sussed out the scam right away. He suddenly fell silent and then had the audacity to tell me I was chatting too much! I cheekily encouraged him to proceed with his little routine since it was all rather amusing. And then, lo and behold, he just hung up on me. How utterly rude, I must say!
