I got a call from an Indian woman claiming to be tech support from ‘Global Internet Provider’. She quickly seemed lost and handed me over to a bloke. He insisted all eight of my computers were infected - not with a virus, but some tricky files picked up from dodgy sites, supposedly invisible to MalwareBytes and Norton. I kept playing along until he clearly got annoyed with me asking too many questions.

Got a silent call, looks like those call centre fraudsters trying to fish info. Usually these folks pretend there’s a virus on your PC and want to get remote access. They’ll set their own password and then either ask for ransom or try to steal your personal or bank info. Just block the number and dont bother returning the call.

I got a phone call from a bloke with an Indian accent and thought it might be a scam, so I just ended the call. Then he rang back saying his name was Joseph and that he was with some official company, claiming my phone number was linked to when I bought my laptop (which I don’t remember at all). He said someone was watching my computer and that I was at risk of being hacked. When I told him I didn’t believe him, he gave me an 0800 number to check if he was legit. I didn’t phone it though - I decided to look it up here first. Being an older lady living solo, these calls can be a bit worrying, but I’m trying to stay alert and careful.

Somebody called claiming to be from my broadband company (which they clearly werent sure about) saying my internet had been hacked and I was downloading harmful stuff whenever I was online. I just said thanks, told them I’d report it to my (imaginary) IT team and hung up. After all these warnings, how come this number is still active?! The phone company should really block it, its ridiculous.

I got a call from this number around 12:49 on 19/06/2019, and it was a lady with an Asian accent saying she was a Microsoft agent. She tried telling me there was a problem with my PC. Seems like one of those Indian call centres. They tried telling me my Windows PC was full of viruses.
