WATCH OUT FOR SCAMMERS! You should report suspicious calls to 7726 (this isn’t a police number) and make sure to block them. It’s also worth emailing your local MP with a couple of questions: why have we lost the ability to report scam attempts directly through the police’s 'action fraud' system? And why hasn’t the phone industry rolled out Caller ID Authentication tech to cut down on scam calls? Scam texts? Just forward them to 7726. If you get scam emails or have pics of scam texts, send them to the police at '[email protected]' so they can look into it.

I just got a call from 02394352772, a woman with an accent who wanted to speak to Mr and Mrs Partridge. I told her she had the wrong number, and then she suddenly asked, "Since you’re there, could you help me out? Are you the owner of the house?" I replied, "Sorry, I don’t know you and I’m not going to answer that. Goodbye," and hung up. This is actually the second time this number has called me in about a month, both times asking for the same people. The caller never said who they were. I’ve blocked the number now.

Someone rang asking for Mr or Mrs Cooper, which aren’t my names. When I told her she’d dialled the wrong number, she kept going on about having that name. Then she wanted my name and address, plus my landlord’s details. I just ended the call then.

When I asked for the company name and phone number, the caller said it was from Insulator Homes, which I couldn't find anywhere. They were very hesitant to provide a contact number, saying we should be able to see it already. I told them we don’t have a caller ID (even though we do). After that, they just hung up.
