Got a call from a strange accent, maybe Asian, asking for someone I’ve never heard of. I just said it was the wrong number and then ended the call. Seems like it’s probably one of those dodgy scam calls, judging by the other comments.

Got a call from a lady with an accent asking for me by name, saying “this isn’t a sales call” - turns out she was trying to do a survey about my loft insulation. I told her my number’s listed with the useless Telephone Preference Service and that it’s against the law to call like that, then I just ended the call.

Beware of this solar panel con. After the warranty expires, they claim your panels aren’t working right and push for expensive repairs. I’ve tracked the power they produce and it’s still as good as when they were first put in - actually, the readings in Sept and Oct this year were the best yet. A local company fitted my panels and I’d reach out to them if anything went wrong. Don’t even bother answering these calls, just hang up straight away.

I answered the phone and it hung up straight away. So I dialed 1471 to check the number then called back. A bloke with a heavy South Asian accent picked up and asked for me by name. When I asked who he was, he said he was calling about loft insulation but insisted it wasn’t a sales pitch. Totally felt like a scam to me. Planning to report it to the ICO and recommend everyone else does too.
