Around 4.54pm, I got a call from a woman who said her name was Maddie. She was talking about a free loft insulation check but refused to tell me which company she was with or give a phone number. I’ve had quite enough of these so-called energy savers! They just seem to be con artists trying to get hold of your bank information. Today alone, I’ve received four calls from them, starting bright and early at 6:40 am and the last one coming through around 3:15 pm. It’s all rather ridiculous! I’ve started jotting down all the numbers because surely there has to be a way to put an end to these pesky landline disturbances.

I told her I already said she shouldn’t be ringing me again, so what was the reason this time? She replied, "Our records indicate we have never reached out to you previously!" Which is exactly what she said last time. I then played her the recording of our earlier chat and she quickly hung up. Pretty clear this was a scam attempt.

When I rang 0234008568 back, I ended up having a friendly conversation. It turned out to be a business named Insulate Your Home, trying to set up a free inspection for loft insulation. Curious, I asked where the person was calling from, and they said it was from an international call centre. I pressed further and found out they were based in the Philippines. I told them we didn’t require any extra insulation, but I appreciated them taking the time to explain. This was on 24 Nov 2022.
