I got a call from a woman asking if I was Mrs so-and-so, but I told her there’s nobody here by that name. It was pretty disturbing how upset she got. Honestly, these sorts of calls should be banned - older folks could easily fall for this and end up losing a lot to scams like this. As soon as I picked up, I could hear ringing like they were trying to connect me to someone else. The woman on the line claimed to be from the "Green Scheme" and said they’d recently talked to me about new doors and windows, but never actually mentioned my name. She asked if they could arrange a time to come round and give a quote. I told her they hadn’t actually contacted me before and I wasn’t interested. She wasn’t too forceful, but honestly, they shouldn’t have called at all since I’m on the TPS list.

They said something about info coming from internet orders or something like that. I asked where they’d got my details from but they never said their company name, then just quickly said goodbye and ended the call. Quite strange really.

Someone rang me saying they were from the Green Alliance in Leigh on Sea, though the number was actually from Southampton. They said they were contacting everyone in my postcode, asking if our house was over ten years old because there’s some kind of scheme offering a payout for work on the front of the house, as the materials would be recycled. When I asked if making calls like this was allowed now, she insisted it wasn’t a sales call, but a survey. I told her if she really wanted that info, she could just check local records or the Land Registry herself.

I got a call from a woman who coldly told me “Mrs G, Harry has died.” Harry’s my dear dog, and he was actually out with my husband at the time. I felt like I was about to faint. Luckily, not long after, they both turned up safe and sound. Honestly, who’d be so heartless to say something like that?

So, the government scrapped the "Green DEAL allowance," but private firms can still pitch similar deals. They promise to recycle your old doors and windows with UPC, then offer you a "loan" to get solar panels fitted. You'll end up paying back with interest, so they do make a profit from it. I don’t think it’s a straight-up scam, but what worries me is they have my full name and phone number, even though I’m on the TPS. Feels like they’re using some dodgy, maybe stolen, contact list to call people.

They gave me a free assessment and the bloke who arrived was genuinely nice and seemed to care. Got a call from some woman named Mandy about loft insulation. She asked what type of insulation I’ve got up there, and when I said I wasn’t sure, she started going on about Rockwool and fibreglass being no good. Then she mentioned anything with black roofing felt was bad too, saying all homes built before 2000 need to replace it. I asked if that meant everyone has to take their roofs off to do that, and she kinda stumbled, trying to backtrack and explain but got all mixed up. Ended the call - was a bit amusing actually.

Curious to see who it might be, I called the number back, only to hear a message saying the number doesn’t exist. Strange to think someone can call from a number that’s apparently not real.

Got a call about some insulation grant, even tho I'm registered on the TPS list. They basically said they use some “random internet dialing system” to make calls. The person who called said their name was “I am” and then a “Rebecca” came on, saying she was the line manager. She mentioned her boss is called “Nick”. Once I told them I’m on the TPS, they put me on hold for a moment before just hanging up. Sounds like a typical scam to me.
