This is the second time this year I’ve had someone ring me saying I’ve been awarded £8,000 by the Government for being a decent citizen, paying my taxes, not being bankrupt or a criminal. I told the caller to post me the details because if they've got my phone number, they must have my address too (though I hope not), then me and the family would look over the paperwork and send it back signed. I’m just waiting to get that cheque to help pay for the new bathroom. I really wish I knew how to block these people properly, there’s so many vulnerable folks who could fall for this.

Just got a call again from that number - some woman with a really bad connection saying she was "Suzan from Breez Government" or something like that, and asked "how a u today". When I said can you say that bit again, she just hung up on me with that annoying "Bzzzz" noise. Looks like a scam, especially since it’s called twice more while I was out this week.

I have never encountered such a vile and offensive phone call in all my days. The caller resorted to the most despicable insults imaginable, hurling dreadful things about my mother and carrying on with all sorts of foul language. It was utterly appalling! I cannot fathom how this number hasn't been shut down yet; it's simply beyond comprehension.

Got a call today from someone claiming to be from the UK Government Grants Department. When I asked where exactly they were located, they said London. I pressed further, asking if it was North, South, East or West London, and they stumbled quite a bit. Their voice sounded Indian, then suddenly they asked if I wanted their address. I said yes, they gave me NC N5. I replied, "Look, I’ve got some interesting collectables for sale, fancy any?" They just hung up. Honestly, do they really believe people are daft enough to think the Government would ring us up like that?

A lady with a really thick African accent rang me at about 1.30pm. I kept having to ask her to say things again coz I couldn’t understand properly. Almost immediately it sounded dodgy. She claimed she was from the London government and that I’d been picked to get some sort of grant for being a good citizen!! Told me to ring 02032395352, give the code AV550 and ask for Rob Taylor to get the money sorted. I wasn’t rude but definitely had no intention of ringing back. I’m with TalkTalk and have no clue how to block these scam calls.

Got a call from some bloke with an Indian accent claiming to be from the British Government, telling me I was owed £8,000 tax free. When I asked if anyone actually falls for that, he called me a Mother f##ker and hung up on me. Honestly, I’d have loved to sort this out in person!

Just like everyone else here, when I said I didn’t trust him, he called me a sick old woman. I told him no way, but he kept insisting I was. Then when I pushed back, he told me to shut up, using some really rude words about my age. After that, he called me a b***** and said I should be left in the jungle. He rang my place at least four more times after that. I got my provider to block the number now. He spoke with an American accent.

Just like lots of others here, the caller had a strange accent, sounded Russian-ish. They said I’d got a grant from the British Government but got really annoyed and rude when I told them the government are trying to cut costs, not hand out cash.

Got a call saying I'd been approved for £8000 from the UK government and asking how I wanted it. I said cash! They gave me a code, LE0081, and said to call the account manager Florence Terry. Just as I’m typing this, they ring again asking why I hadn’t called. I told them it’s a scam and the woman started getting rude and then just hung up when I told her I wasn’t daft.

Got a call around 11:30 in the morning from a lady with a foreign accent claiming to be from the UK Government. I mentioned it was odd they’d be ringing me from an overseas number. Got a call from this number and the bloke said he was from the gov crown or something? When i asked him to say that again, he started getting rude, sounded like he was a bit worse for wear too. He goes on saying if i didn't want to talk, why didn’t i just hang up like normal people?? Then he just cut the call.

Got a call from a guy with a foreign accent, sounded North African maybe. He claimed he was calling from some "British Government Grants and Investment Department" office in London, saying my number was picked to win £8,000. Straight away I knew it was dodgy, so I asked him to say the department name again so I could jot it down. Then I told him I’m a civil servant and that department doesn’t even exist. He just went "f*** you, f*** you" before hanging up, I couldn’t help but laugh at him.

I’ve received a rather peculiar call from someone claiming to be from the 'Government', informing me that I've been chosen to receive a payment of £8,000. It's quite baffling, really! Is there any way to put an end to these annoying calls once and for all?

I just had the misfortune of receiving a call from these clowns. I merely responded with, "Did I request this call?" and the rather charming individual on the other end just retorted with a "rubbish" before promptly disconnecting. How lovely that was! Honestly, what a bunch of muppets.

This guy told me I had qualified for a personal loyalty grant from the government for being a good citizen??! Wish it was true! Thinking it was a scam, I asked if I could get paid by cheque instead of giving bank info, and he told me to call 02032872050 and give an activation code. Of course I never called back and checked the number on here - turns out, plenty others have had the same call. At least he wasn’t rude like some folks have said. Cheers "who called me"!

Some bloke from abroad started chatting to me about government cash. I stayed quiet and just hung up. Then he called back two more times, shouting rubbish at me. Loads of folks must be getting caught by these scams because there’s so many of them - why don’t they tell people more about this?

Just like all the other calls I get, but this one was really upsetting. Some bloke with a foreign accent told me to f*** off. I was shocked so I said 'sorry' but he repeated it and then called me an idiot. The noise in the background was awful too. These calls are so annoying, wish there was a way to block them. My neighbour mentioned call display, and I’m thinking of buying a new phone because of it.

Received a bothersome call-when I picked up, the line went silent. It's apparent from the numerous remarks on this site that folks are astutely pinpointing the digits employed by various scammers. So, I can't help but wonder, why doesn't BT (or whoever's responsible) take swift action on this intel and put a stop to these numbers as soon as they're flagged?

This is clearly a fraudulent call. Do yourself a favour and don't pick up. The person on the line was extremely rude and there was a whole lot of background clatter, making it all quite unsettling. They eventually terminated the call once I mentioned that I had taken note of their number and was considering involving the police.

Total scam alert. They gave me a couple of numbers to ring back to get my supposed £8k payout 02032391272 and 02032395352. When I asked, they said they were freephone but then changed it to some government office in London?? I told them that any number starting with 0203 can be leased from literally anywhere around the globe!

I received a peculiar phone call from an overseas woman, claiming I had been chosen to receive a sum of £8000 from the UK Government. Right from the moment I glanced at the caller ID and noticed the 000 prefix, I suspected it was a scam. She assured me that there was no need for repayment. When I probed further, asking if I could have the funds in cash rather than directly deposited into my bank account, she instructed me to contact 02032390675 for more details. Naturally, I had no intention of calling that number. After enduring over eight minutes of her rambling, during which I could hardly grasp what she was saying, I finally informed her that I realized this was a scam and wouldn’t be making any calls. She responded with a dismissive ‘do as you please’ before abruptly hanging up. The call quality was dreadful, with intermittent static and a cacophony of voices in the background.

Today, at precisely 15:50, I received a rather dubious call from this number. The individual claimed that I had been granted a sum of £8,000 from the government, and instructed me to ring 02032390675, stating it was the finance department coordinating the payout. I chose not to return the call, and shortly after, I got another odd call which I answered before promptly hanging up. Since then, no further communications have come through. Let's be real-nobody is simply giving away money. It’s clearly a scam, so exercise caution!

Received a call from this number saying I needed to call 02032395352 straight away because I supposedly qualified for a grant from the UK Government in London. The caller said the cash could be used for things like home repairs or settling bills. She asked my age, I said 97, and when asked what I'd spend the money on, I said my funeral. Heard nothing back. Guess I got off easy. Total scam, no doubt.

I keep getting calls from this number, but whenever I answer, it just goes silent. It's quite baffling, isn't it? One would think that BT, with or without some sort of governmental aid, would clamp down on these nuisance callers and put a stop to this kind of scam. It’s high time action was taken!

Yesterday, I received a handful of calls from a number listed as 'unavailable'. Each time I picked up, the line would go silent, though at one point I could hear a jumble of different voices in the background. Today, I chose not to respond to the calls and now I've been getting several from 0002389001076. So far, there haven't been any voices, just disconnections. It’s rather peculiar, to say the least!

I answered all polite with "hello, how can I assist?" and he immediately started cussing me out, saying stuff like "get lost, f*** off, piss off, you're really annoying me!" I was like, hang on, you called me? Who are you? He refused to say and eventually admitted he’d dialled the wrong number. Proper rude!

Got a call again from that same number, so I dialled the one given, 0203 286 2823, and talked to some bloke named "Joe". When I told him I wanted payment by cheque at the local Post Office, he said I'd have to provide ID, my mobile, and also cough up £210 for some kind of authorisation charge. He promptly called me again, and when I made it clear that I had no intention of continuing the discussion and would be alerting the police, he urged me to do so rather than hang up - an amusing reaction, to say the least. I ended the call, stating I couldn’t afford to waste any more of my time. I just had a rather peculiar phone call from this number. The person on the other end struggled with English and claimed I had been randomly chosen to receive an £8,000 grant from the UK Government. The only catch was that I hadn’t gone bankrupt in the last six months. Then, without skipping a beat, they asked how I preferred to receive my ‘grant’ - whether by bank transfer, cheque, or straight into my account. When I expressed my disinterest in such a dubious offer, they became quite irate, shouting, “Why are you wasting my time?” I countered with, “Why are you wasting mine? This is a private line, and you shouldn’t be calling me!” At this point, they started rambling something incoherent, so I decided to end the conversation abruptly.

Pretty much the same as most people here. They said I was picked randomly cause I support the government. I told them I actually don’t support the government at all. That seemed to throw her off a bit, she had to stop reading her script and struggled to reply. I kept grilling her with questions like how many folks are getting this “grant”, where the government is getting the funds from, how they got my number, and so on. Eventually she got annoyed and just hung up. Bit of a shame, I was enjoying winding her up! I bet they’ll ring back again.
