Today, I got a rather peculiar call from this number, claiming to represent the UK Government's Crown department. The chap on the other end sounded rather inebriated, and when I requested he clarify his location, he became quite curt and abruptly ended the call. Quite the suspicious encounter, to say the least!

Got a call just now. Could hardly catch what the bloke was saying because of his accent, but he claimed to be from HM Government with a one-off grant of £3,000 - big deal! I cut him off and asked if he’d post me a cheque or if he was gonna ask for my bank info. Surprise surprise, he wanted my bank details. I told him, “So, you’re just a scammer then.” He goes, “Yeah, that’s right. And I’ll keep ringing you non-stop.” Honestly, his cheek was something else!

Same experience here, just adding my bit. I pretended to go along with it and had a laugh, but it’s really not on for older or vulnerable folks. This shouldn’t be allowed, there has to be someway to stop it.

My elderly companion has been inundated with calls from the number 02389001076. Initially, on 7th June, she let one ring out, but then on 17th June, she received a trio of calls. Each time, there was an 'Indian' accent on the line, instructing her to ring back a different number with a PIN to supposedly secure a government grant worth £1,000. It was rather tricky to grasp what the caller was on about; at times they mentioned £1,000, while other times it was claimed to be £8,000. The premise of the grant was premised on not being in any debt whatsoever. On the final call, the tone turned quite aggressive when she didn’t respond back within a mere three minutes. It’s a relief to know she’s wise enough not to get tangled in such schemes, but it still leaves one feeling quite unsettled.

Got a call the other day, just like everyone else, saying the government is offering me an £8000 grant (yeah, right). I just let him go on, acted like I couldn’t hear properly and made him say it again. He then gave me a code and told me to ring 02032395352. Of course, it was a load of rubbish. Total con. Feel sorry for anyone else who falls for this nonsense.

I cant believe I was about to get £8000, felt proper chuffed. Told her my name was Roger Donkey and she actually bought it. I tried to keep her chatting for as long as possible until she eventually told me to bugger off. Bloody good laugh!

A lady with an Indian accent was reading straight off a script, and she couldn’t answer basic questions I asked about the call. She was offering £8000 with three different payment options, so I picked cash in hand! Then she told me to grab a pencil and jot down this number - 0243 286 283 - and gave me a claim number LV2277. I didn’t plan on ringing the number, just kept her on the line to make the scammers rack up more costs on an international call! When she finally hung up, I left the phone on and could hear her trying to explain my questions to someone else.

Similar story here, I just pretended to go along with it until he told me to fetch a pen, then I told him I was stuck in bed lol. He said he'd ring back later. Couldn’t help but laugh and just hung up. Then he rang back like 10-15 times, using a couple of similar numbers. One of my female mates answered once and messaged with him, pretending to ask how much she charged for an evening out. When another bloke from work answered, he just ended the call. Fingers crossed he’s left me alone now.

Oh, here we go again-a classic case of the same tiresome nonsense rebranded!
“You've received a government grant of £8,500.” Oh, really? From the government? How delightful! They’re usually more adept at snatching my hard-earned cash! You’ve got three minutes to explain yourself.
“Three minutes? The only thing I could do in that time is tell you to sod off!”
Well, there's no sense in hanging about on the line, then!

Honestly, these chaps ought to be tracked down and shut down! Can you imagine an elderly or vulnerable person being on the receiving end of that rubbish?

When I picked up the call, the individual claimed to represent the Government Grants Department. Their accent was distinctly foreign, and the conversation quickly took a troubling turn. The caller made some disgraceful remarks, warning me about being taken advantage of by someone with a very crude term. They insisted on this bizarre narrative, suggesting I'd be exploited by either my partner or spouse. It was an absolutely appalling and unacceptable phone call!

I received a rather peculiar phone call from an Asian gentleman claiming to represent a London Government department. I kept inquiring who he wished to chat with, fully aware he likely didn’t have my details. My questions clearly irritated him, as he began insisting, "You’re my darling, my love. Got a call from some Indian bloke saying I was entitled to £8000 from the government for being a 'model citizen'. Didn’t seem like he had a clue about how our system actually works. I've come across loads of complaints-over 2000, in fact-concerning this particular number. It's utterly baffling that this is still going on! I can't quite grasp why BT isn't taking more action here. Surely they have the means to trace the call and even involve the authorities? One would think that with a significant number of reports, we ought to be afforded some sort of safeguarding from these pesky scams. If many of us raise our voices, perhaps it might lead to some actual change? By the way, you can find me on Facebook as Paul Garrett from Battersea.

It was a woman calling, sounded like she might be from India or somewhere similar. I've gotten this call before. This time I just played some music for like 5 minutes, then told her I knew it was a scam and she was just wasting her time calling me. She told me to f#ck myself, which made me laugh. I just received a rather dodgy phone call from this number. The chap on the line informed me that in order to release my £8,000, I’d need to cough up £210 first. When I probed about the process, he suggested I ring him back once I was at the post office. I mentioned my suspicions regarding his supposed location, hinting that he might not really be in India. I cheekily asked him to describe the weather, to which he confidently replied "sunny." Well, he was utterly mistaken; it’s actually cloudy and drizzling here! I’ve never heard of anyone in the Southampton or Portsmouth region. Missed their call and no voicemail was left behind. Might be one of those sales people. Or maybe it’s some kind of automated system. It’s really frustrating getting all these random annoying calls all the time.

Got calls from someone saying they were UK Gov Grants, but with an Indian accent, ringing me a few times today and a couple of other days too. I told them, like I did before, I'm not interested. Then the bloke started calling me a B#tch and told me to go f#ck myself. I passed the phone to my partner and this guy (u.g.g) goes "why you talkin to me?" then tells my partner to f#ck OFF. My partner just hung up after that.

Today, I received a rather dubious call from these chaps, and it was pretty clear to me that it was a bit of a con. I decided to play along for a bit, acting as if I had somehow come into possession of a grant worth £1000, all thanks to my impeccable rapport with the authorities. When I probed for their company’s name, the caller kept insisting, 'I'm calling from the bloody government.' It escalated quickly, with her hurling insults like 'You’re such a cow!' and 'Go take a hike, you overweight mare!' Surprisingly, despite the rudeness, it turned my Monday morning into quite the entertainment!

Got a call where they said I was going to be [###]d and killed. Claimed they were from some Government Scheme or something.

On 30/10/2015, I received a call at around 10:25 am from a man speaking with a foreign accent. He said his name was Mr. David Wilson and claimed to be from the UK government's grant department. When I asked for more details, he became quite rude and told me to “go and f - your mother.” After that, I dialled 1471 and found the number was 023 89001076. I’ve reported this to the police, who said they’ll handle it as a ‘malicious call’. We shouldn’t tolerate this kind of behaviour at all.

I received a call from this number not long ago. When I answered with a cheerful "hello," a bloke with a strong Indian accent rudely told me to shove off before abruptly ending the call. What on earth was that about?

I got a call saying I was gonna be d## tonight, something about ###. It was odd since I never gave my name, it's a work number. The bloke on the phone had an Indian accent. I've passed it on to the cops.

received a call from someone claiming to be from the government grant office, saying i was picked out of nowhere. total scam right from the start so i just left the phone on my desk and enjoyed a cuppa while he kept chatting away. probably wasted 10 mins of his time lol.

Just like loads of others have said, but this one was really rude. Why on earth can't they be stopped? Why should we have to put up with this rubbish? When i asked for his name and number, he said he’d ring me all night. I reckon older folks must be easy targets for these con artists.

Just like other calls I’ve had before. I asked him why he believed I’d actually be fooled by that sort of scam and he started arguing it wasn’t one. I told him I wasn’t giving him any information and then I ended the call.

I just ended the call, and after going through the reports, I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this number when it rings again.

Pretty much the same here. The bloke wanted to know my age for “security reasons.” I said I was 71 (which I’m not). Then he called me a liar! I told him that was rich coming from him. I even said he was the worst scammer I’d come across this year and bet his mum’s thrilled! After that, I just dropped the call. Honestly, it felt quite good :-)

I happened to meet a chap named Terry Smith, who claims to be with the UK Government in London. When I inquired about his specific department, he rather bluntly replied with an expletive followed by 'government', a branch I must admit I had never heard of before. After that, I decided it best to wish him a pleasant day and take my leave. By the way, could someone please reach out to BT to sever that phone line to India? Cheers!

Got a call from the same number 02389001076 when i was clearly not up for any chat. The bloke on the other end was proper rude, not what i expected. These scammers really should be dealt with, specially as they’re targetin older people. Absolute pain in the neck.

This Indian bloke was saying some really nasty stuff, like proper inappropriate. I lost it and told him exactly where to go. That was on Friday, 23rd October. Then he called again on Monday the 26th but didn’t say a word, just stayed silent.

I got a call from the so-called "UK Grant Department" claiming I was eligible for an £8,000 grant. The call was from an Indian call centre and when I started having a laugh at them, some guy named "Nick" told me to "Go and F**k myself." Charming, right? I’ve reported it to the ICO and ActionFraud but honestly, neither of them seems keen on doing anything to stop these scammers targeting folks in the UK.

Today was rather amusing when she introduced herself as Jenny Wilson; I couldn't help but chuckle, especially knowing she was of Chinese descent.

Some bloke called 'Christopher' with a weird foreign accent said I could get an £8000 government grant. He sounded like he knew my name but then started asking for loads of personal info to “verify” me. I got suspicious, asked him for his full name, the government department he was from, and contact numbers, saying I’d ring back once I’d double checked everything. Right after that, the call just cut off.

I received a call at half past one on the afternoon of the 16th of October, 2015. The individual on the other end claimed to be representing the UK Government Grants, insisting that I was eligible for a sum of £8000. He even provided me with a reference number and a callback number, which was 02032398052, to supposedly claim the funds. When I confronted him about the apparent scam, his tone took a nasty turn and he became quite confrontational. It’s clear these calls are nothing more than a ruse designed to extract money from unsuspecting victims under the guise of releasing a fictitious £8000 grant. Beware!

I'm absolutely tired of this number constantly ringing me. It's becoming rather irritating!

I've noticed this company is ringing me from a whole host of different numbers; I've already investigated six, and they're all from the same outfit. Every time I pick up, there’s silence and then they just hang up! With family in hospital, it’s absolutely nerve-wracking - I flinch every time my phone goes off. Honestly, they ought to be brought to justice; they’re inflicting unnecessary stress and anxiety on people.

I received a call this morning around half eleven from someone claiming to be with the government, stating that I had been granted £8,000 for being a model citizen. They provided me with a reference number and instructed me to ring 02032398052 for further details. Quite the unexpected conversation, I must say!

Got a call from someone named Jack, said he was from the UK grant office but sounded Indian with an American accent. He told me I'd been awarded £8,000 because I've been a good citizen and paid taxes regularly. He gave me some approval code and told me to call 02032905985 to claim it. I hung up before he finished and didn’t bother ringing back - smells like a scam to me.
