Just like loads of others, I got told I’ve won £8000 from the UK Grant Dept. Brilliant! But honestly, I’m just messing about and wasting her time :-D

I got a call from a woman speaking in an Indian accent, chatting away with her colleagues like it was a party on her end. After about 20 minutes, I just said "Hello" to see if she was there. She asked if I wanted to work or just chat, then went right back to yakking with her mates. A bit later, she called me again saying I should teach her some manners 'cause she reckoned she was a naughty girl. She even sang a song and wanted my opinion. I joked, "Well, it’s your phone bill you’re racking up, not mine!" When she pressed for some manners lessons, I answered back in German which seemed to annoy her. She threatened to hang up unless I taught her proper behaviour. I replied in German once more and sure enough, the call got cut off! Nearly half an hour of free entertainment on their dime - wish it’d gone on even longer. Not just us who can give a bit of the old cheek!

Got a call from this number a moment ago. The bloke claimed he was ringing on behalf of the UK Government Crown or something, but he sounded totally pissed. When I asked him to clarify where he was calling from, he got really cheeky and just ended the call. Weird behaviour, really.

I got a call from a man with an Indian accent, calling himself Constable Brown. He told me there was a government cheque for £8000 waiting for me. When I asked what government department he worked for, he said “government grants”. He claimed that because I had no debts (which is true) and have been paying taxes (I'm actually a stay-at-home mum, my husband works), the government wanted to thank me. He said if I accepted the offer, he'd give me his supervisor’s phone number. I said I wouldn’t agree until he gave me that number first, but he refused to share it unless I accepted. Then I asked him to tell me my name, and he got all flustered. So I just hung up. I knew it was a scam, but thought I’d play along for a bit. Shame that others aren’t as cautious and end up getting scammed!

Got a call just now. Could hardly catch what the bloke was saying because of his accent, but he claimed to be from HM Government with a one-off grant of £3,000 - big deal! I cut him off and asked if he’d post me a cheque or if he was gonna ask for my bank info. Surprise surprise, he wanted my bank details. I told him, “So, you’re just a scammer then.” He goes, “Yeah, that’s right. And I’ll keep ringing you non-stop.” Honestly, his cheek was something else!

Same experience here, just adding my bit. I pretended to go along with it and had a laugh, but it’s really not on for older or vulnerable folks. This shouldn’t be allowed, there has to be someway to stop it.

An elderly mate of mine got bombarded with a bunch of calls from 02389001076 over just a few days. First, there was a missed call on the 7th of June, then three more on the 17th. Each time, it was some bloke with an Indian accent telling her to ring back a number and use a PIN to claim a government grant of about £1,000. The voice was hard to catch clearly, and sometimes it sounded like they were saying £8,000 instead of £1,000. Supposedly, this grant was for folks who hadn’t been in debt. The last call turned nasty when she didn’t call back straight away within 3 minutes. Luckily, she’s sharp enough not to get caught out, but it's still quite worrying.

Got a call the other day, just like everyone else, saying the government is offering me an £8000 grant (yeah, right). I just let him go on, acted like I couldn’t hear properly and made him say it again. He then gave me a code and told me to ring 02032395352. Of course, it was a load of rubbish. Total con. Feel sorry for anyone else who falls for this nonsense.

I cant believe I was about to get £8000, felt proper chuffed. Told her my name was Roger Donkey and she actually bought it. I tried to keep her chatting for as long as possible until she eventually told me to bugger off. Bloody good laugh!

A lady with an Indian accent was reading straight off a script, and she couldn’t answer basic questions I asked about the call. She was offering £8000 with three different payment options, so I picked cash in hand! Then she told me to grab a pencil and jot down this number - 0243 286 283 - and gave me a claim number LV2277. I didn’t plan on ringing the number, just kept her on the line to make the scammers rack up more costs on an international call! When she finally hung up, I left the phone on and could hear her trying to explain my questions to someone else.

Couldn’t help but laugh and just hung up. Then he rang back like 10-15 times, using a couple of similar numbers. Same rubbish, different day again! “Congratulations, you’ve got a government grant of £8500.” Yeah, right! The government’s usually just taking my cash, not giving it. You’ve got three minutes to convince me otherwise. “3 minutes? All I’d do in that time is mess you about.” Well, that’s no reason to keep me on the phone then! They really should be tracked down and shut down. What if an elderly or vulnerable person got caught out by this? Proper worrying.

When I picked up, some bloke said he was calling from the Government Grants office. He had an accent I didn’t recognise. Then out of nowhere he starts rambling about watching out for being taken advantage of - used some really rude words too. I received a rather peculiar phone call from an Asian gentleman claiming to represent a London Government department. I kept inquiring who he wished to chat with, fully aware he likely didn’t have my details. My questions clearly irritated him, as he began insisting, "You’re my darling, my love. Don’t you fancy a bit of fun with me?" repeatedly. It was clearly one of those dodgy calls where they’re not supposed to end the conversation, so I decided to have a bit of fun myself by blasting some loud siren sounds in the background! Got a call from some Indian bloke saying I was entitled to £8000 from the government for being a 'model citizen'. Didn’t seem like he had a clue about how our system actually works. It was a woman calling, sounded like she might be from India or somewhere similar. I've gotten this call before. I got a call from a lady claiming to be from the British Government Grants Department using this number. She told me I was eligible for an £8,000 tax-free grant. Lovely idea for new windows I thought, so I could finally let some fresh air in and clear out all this nonsense. The sad thing is, someone’s bound to fall for this scam. Be sure to share this on your Facebook, Twitter or wherever you can to warn others - especially the elderly. When she called, I told her I worked at Scotland Yard’s International Fraud Unit and asked her where she was calling from, expecting her to hang up immediately. Instead, she gave me an address: 1st Floor, 333 Holborn Gate, High Holborn, WC1V 7QT - turns out it’s just office space for rent! I told him I doubted he was really calling from India and asked him to describe the weather there. Predictably, he said it was sunny - nope, here it’s actually pouring with rain and cloudy. Honestly, do people really fall for this? He claimed his name was Alan from London but spoke with a thick Indian accent and the line was so fuzzy it was hard to understand him. Bit obvious, if you ask me.

I got a call from this number and the bloke on the other end claimed to be from the government. He started making horrible threats, even saying he'd harm me in really awful ways. He kept up with the abuse, it was horrible. I've already told the police about it. If you get anything like this from them, ring 101 for your local police's non-emergency line and give them the crime reference 06-0146. This lot are up to no good and obviously breaking the law.

Got a ring earlier but nobody spoke when I picked up, so I just hung up straight away.

I’ve never heard of anyone in the Southampton or Portsmouth region. Missed their call and no voicemail was left behind. Might be one of those sales people. Or maybe it’s some kind of automated system. It’s really frustrating getting all these random annoying calls all the time.

Got calls from someone saying they were UK Gov Grants, but with an Indian accent, ringing me a few times today and a couple of other days too. I told them, like I did before, I'm not interested. Then the bloke started calling me a B#tch and told me to go f#ck myself. I passed the phone to my partner and this guy (u.g.g) goes "why you talkin to me?" then tells my partner to f#ck OFF. My partner just hung up after that.

So, these people phoned me today and I just knew it was one of those dodgy calls. I played along for a bit, pretending I’d somehow landed a £1000 grant because I supposedly have some insider link with the government. When I asked what company they were from, the woman kept repeating she was from the “bloody government”. Then, out of nowhere, she started hurling insults at me like “go shove it, you fat cow”. Honestly, this was the highlight of my Monday morning - gave me a proper chuckle!

On 30/10/2015, I received a call at around 10:25 am from a man speaking with a foreign accent. He said his name was Mr. David Wilson and claimed to be from the UK government's grant department. When I asked for more details, he became quite rude and told me to “go and f - your mother.” After that, I dialled 1471 and found the number was 023 89001076. I’ve reported this to the police, who said they’ll handle it as a ‘malicious call’. We shouldn’t tolerate this kind of behaviour at all.

I just got a call from this number. I answered with a simple hello, and out of nowhere a bloke with a strong Indian accent shouted some horrible swear words at me, then suddenly cut the call. Seriously, what’s that about?!

I got a call saying I was gonna be d## tonight, something about ###. It was odd since I never gave my name, it's a work number. The bloke on the phone had an Indian accent. I've passed it on to the cops.

Just like loads of others have said, but this one was really rude. Why on earth can't they be stopped? Why should we have to put up with this rubbish? When i asked for his name and number, he said he’d ring me all night. I reckon older folks must be easy targets for these con artists.

Just like other calls I’ve had before. I asked him why he believed I’d actually be fooled by that sort of scam and he started arguing it wasn’t one. I told him I wasn’t giving him any information and then I ended the call.

Pretty much the same here. The bloke wanted to know my age for “security reasons.” I said I was 71 (which I’m not). Then he called me a liar! I told him that was rich coming from him. I even said he was the worst scammer I’d come across this year and bet his mum’s thrilled! After that, I just dropped the call. Honestly, it felt quite good :-)

I got a call from a guy named Terry Smith saying he was with the UK Government in London. When I asked him which department, he just replied 'f***ing government’. Pretty rude, and I’ve never heard of that department before. I ended the call there. Seriously, can someone sort with BT to block these calls from India? It’s so annoying!

This Indian bloke was saying some really nasty stuff, like proper inappropriate. I lost it and told him exactly where to go. That was on Friday, 23rd October. Then he called again on Monday the 26th but didn’t say a word, just stayed silent.

I got a call from the so-called "UK Grant Department" claiming I was eligible for an £8,000 grant. The call was from an Indian call centre and when I started having a laugh at them, some guy named "Nick" told me to "Go and F**k myself." Charming, right? I’ve reported it to the ICO and ActionFraud but honestly, neither of them seems keen on doing anything to stop these scammers targeting folks in the UK.

Some bloke called 'Christopher' with a weird foreign accent said I could get an £8000 government grant. He sounded like he knew my name but then started asking for loads of personal info to “verify” me. I got suspicious, asked him for his full name, the government department he was from, and contact numbers, saying I’d ring back once I’d double checked everything. Right after that, the call just cut off.

Got a call around 1.30pm on 16th October 2015 from someone claiming to be with UK Government Grants, saying I was eligible for £8000. They provided a reference number and asked me to ring back on 02032398052 to claim the money. As soon as I called him out on it being a scam, he started shouting and being rude. It’s clear these calls are just tricks to make you pay fees for money that doesn’t even exist.

I’ve noticed this firm keeps ringing from loads of different numbers. I’ve looked up six already and they’re all linked to the same place. Whenever I pick up, nobody talks, they just cut off straight away. With family in hospital, every ring makes me jump out of my skin. Honestly, these calls are just pure stress and they really ought to be stopped by law.

Got a call today around half past 11, some bloke saying he’s from the government claiming I’ve got a grant of £8000 because I’m a ‘first class citizen’. He gave me some claim reference and told me to get in touch on 02032398052. Sounded a bit dodgy to me.

Got a call from someone named Jack, said he was from the UK grant office but sounded Indian with an American accent. He told me I'd been awarded £8,000 because I've been a good citizen and paid taxes regularly. He gave me some approval code and told me to call 02032905985 to claim it. I hung up before he finished and didn’t bother ringing back - smells like a scam to me.
