Got a call from a bloke with a strange accent claiming I’d won £8000 from the government for being a model citizen. I played along just to see what would happen. He said I could spend the cash on whatever I wanted, as long as it was above board. Gave me a number to ring and a code to claim the money. I’m gonna look into it, cos it definitely felt like a scam. Fingers crossed I messed with his plans. These sorts of people are just evil.

I’ve just received a rather peculiar phone call from 002389001076 claiming I’d won £1,000 courtesy of the government! They instructed me to ring another number and provide a reference to claim my supposed prize. Honestly, I found it dodgy and decided to end the conversation right there.

Some woman called Stacey Smeeth, sounded like she had an Asian accent, said she was from a UK government dept. Offered me an £8000 grant. Told her my mum’s out and I don’t own a credit card. She went "OMG" and just ended the call. Total waste of time, be careful.

Got a call from a woman claiming to be from some government office in London, saying I’d won £8000 that I didn’t need to repay to clear my debts. Problem is, I don’t owe anything and the number she rang was our company’s front desk! I looked the number up quickly, found this site, and told her off, asking her to stop ringing as she was tying up our reception line. She just hung up on me without a word. Luckily haven’t had any more calls yet. Poor folks who’ve had to deal with this nonstop!

I answered a call at precisely 11:47 on the 7th of April, 2016. Once I said "hello," there was utter silence. After about 15 seconds, a recorded female voice chimed in with a "goodbye." I set the phone down briefly, counted to three, and then picked it up again to confirm the line had indeed disconnected. I could hear the dial tone, which was reassuring. It’s a smart move to double-check in case the line is left open, isn’t it?

I received a call earlier today from this number claiming I had been granted £8,000, which could be received in cash, transferred via post office, or directly into my bank. When I probed further about the cash option, the caller merely regurgitated the same choices. I decided to end the conversation, but shortly after, a so-called manager rang me again. I informed him that I had checked the government website, which clearly states you must apply for any grants. Despite my efforts to clarify, he maintained that their offer was legitimate. Eventually, I chose to terminate the conversation once more.

Had a rather dodgy phone call this morning from 002389001076. A woman claimed that I was one of the lucky few picked for a Government grant worth £8000. She didn’t bother to ask for my name, and considering I was answering my dad’s phone, she didn’t have my address either! She introduced herself as Angela and instructed me to call some Florence Berry, the accounts manager, on the same number, quoting 550 to claim my cash. Like I’d be gullible enough to go for that nonsense! Not a chance!

I received quite an odd phone call from a chap who had a strong accent. He kept asking me to guess his identity and wouldn't stop saying, "You know me very well!" He rambled on about how he missed me and my lovely smile! To be honest, my life’s been rather straightforward and definitely lacking in any intriguing characters, so I couldn't think of anyone who'd be longing for me, let alone someone who might be a mysterious admirer! I can’t help but wonder what his game was. Perhaps if I had mentioned a name, he would have taken that as a cue to fake familiarity and try to dupe me into handing over some cash?

Got a call from 002389001076 claiming the government wanted to give me £8000 grant. I asked, "Which government exactly?" They seemed confused and said, "What do you mean?" So I told them the number was from abroad, obviously not local. Then they argued with me about how I could tell it was foreign. I was getting fed up and just ended the call. They rang back straight away, but I just picked up and hung up. Seems like they finally understood. Seriously, don’t these people have anything better to do?!

They've been ringing nonstop for the past few days. The callers sound Asian or African and use strange English names, claiming to be calling from London, but the numbers are clearly from abroad. We got fed up and ended up telling them off. Afterwards, our answerphone was flooded with loads of rude and annoying messages. It's ridiculous that phone providers still don't let us block specific numbers. Honestly, there should be a law forcing them to include that feature. You can listen here: youtu.be/B51GDhaJbPc

They rang me almost ten times on the 2nd and 3rd of December 2015. They also used the number 00390238900176. After the fifth call, I just started ranting at them (felt oddly satisfying). After that, we just let it go to voicemail and recorded what happened next. Proper funny, they got really annoyed. youtu.be/B51GDhaJbPc

This number rings from Cape Verde, an island group with volcanoes near Africa’s northwest shore. Seems like folks there got nothing else to do but try to con the world, or maybe they're just practising their English by having a chat. I would’ve happily handed over my cash if the lady on the line had said some naughty stuff and sent me some cheeky pics of her ebony curves, but sadly for me, the call stopped as soon as I mentioned I also worked for the British Government.

Some bloke named Jack claiming to be from the Government called me, sounded like he could be Asian or maybe Eastern European but he was trying really hard to hide his accent. I received a call from someone with a pronounced Indian accent-he claimed to be Steven from the UK Government Grant Department. He told me I had been chosen at random for a tax-free grant of £8000 due to my excellent tax payment record. I was quite taken aback, as I hadn’t heard anything about this scheme before. Just as I started to ask more questions, he abruptly ended the call. What a shame! I was hoping to engage him in conversation for a bit longer.

Got a call from a lady who was really hard to catch what she was saying, claiming to be from the 'British Government in London.' She told me basically the same thing, that I was entitled to £8000 for being a good citizen. I told her, 'Sounds brilliant, I'll wait for the cheque to arrive since you must have my address as a government office.' The line just went dead after that. The number she called from was 002389001076.

Today at precisely 12:56, I received a call from this number claiming I was due to receive £8000 from the government. I ended the call abruptly, but they called me back to inquire why I had hung up. I explained it had been an error on my part, and they continued to gather more details, including a code FM 1237 and a contact number, 02032398032, to supposedly claim the money. I didn’t go through with it and instead reported the incident.

I picked up the call, but there was nobody on the other end - rather odd, isn’t it? I can't help but wonder how they managed to get hold of my number in the first place. I just had a call from this number, with the caller claiming to represent the UK Government. Apparently, my name and number were randomly selected to receive an £8000 grant for my impeccable tax and bill payments. Sounds a bit dodgy, don’t you think? So, I decided to probe a bit further and asked the rather peculiar chap on the line-he had a strange mix of American and Eastern European accent-what name was noted in their records. He responded rather dismissively, saying if I wasn’t interested in the £8000 grant, it was no problem at all. I simply stated I was just trying to confirm the details. And guess what? They hung up! Absolutely ridiculous! Definitely smells like a scam to me.

To get it, I had to ring 0203 239 8052 straight away, give a confirmation code and some personal info to verify who I was. Of course, I knew it was a total scam and hung up. Still, I’m concerned some folks who aren’t so careful might get tricked by this.

Let's take a stand against these dreadful nuisance callers by reaching out to the Action Fraud helpline at 03001232040. Despite being ex-directory, they've somehow managed to obtain our number. If I receive another one of their irritating calls, I've got a rather shrill whistle ready to unleash, and I shall do so with immense satisfaction! I trust this will deter them from trying their luck again. It’s quite amusing how these clueless individuals tend to get a bit jumpy when you mention that the conversation is being recorded; the longer they linger on the line, the easier it becomes to trace their nefarious activities. This tactic has served me well in the past, but it's still a good idea to contact Action Fraud regardless.

I received a call from this number and, quite frankly, didn’t bother to engage - I simply hung up. This isn’t the first time I've encountered a similar situation, and on a prior occasion, I contacted the non-emergency police line. They were very supportive and provided me with the Action Fraud helpline, encouraging me to report it so they could look into it. The number in question is 03001232040. If you’re experiencing persistent nuisance calls like I have, I recommend giving them a call too. Together, we might just manage to put an end to these unsavoury characters who think they can intimidate others; they certainly lack any decency or compassion.

I have my phone registered with the Telephone Preference Service. At 9:57 in the morning on Monday, 2nd November 2015, I received a call from this number. The individual on the other end was trying to convince me that I was eligible for some kind of grant. I politely declined their offer, expressing disinterest. Upon my refusal to provide my name, the caller resorted to some rather offensive language, telling me to “F... Some bloke with an Asian accent claimed to be John Prescott and said he’d been speaking to my dad in heaven, who’d apparently been trying to contact me. Then he went on about being in hell and I asked if it was warm down there. He said I was a good guy and that the government was going to give me some cash. After about 5 minutes of nonsense, he quickly realised I wasn’t exactly a good bloke, well, not unless I decided to be, which I wasn’t really bothered about in his case.

There was this bloke with a heavy Asian accent working in what sounded like a loud call centre, clearly reading off a script. He claimed I’d been picked for a £1000 government grant because I’m a good person who pays bills on time and hasn’t got a criminal record. I instantly knew it was a scam and played along for a bit. When I mentioned feeling lucky to be chosen, he just hung up. Luckily, he wasn’t rude like some others I’ve read about.

The call ended before I could pick up but the number 002389001076 showed up. I've seen people mention some kind of grant deal where they ask you to send £1 to that number. Definitely looks like another sneaky scam.

What a bother! This individual has been nothing short of rude, unpleasant, and downright harassing. They had the audacity to curse at my mother while trying to peddle some supposed government grant, complete with a thick Asian accent. Lately, we've been inundated with silent calls and mysterious hang-ups at the unearthly hour of night. Absolutely delightful, isn't it?

Scammers from Pakistan - and what a dumb scam it is too. Just don’t answer, block them straight away. Tell em to jog on. Complete muppets.

Some bloke rang me claiming he was from the UK gov’s grant dept and said I had £8000 waiting for me. I kept him on the line, asking how to collect it and said I’d pop round to his office if he gave me the address. Proper amateur scammer. Told him to stop wasting my time.

Some lady with a heavy Asian accent rang me up claiming I qualified for a £1000 government grant. She said she’d called a company before and got shouted at with things like "you mother F#####" and "you stupid B####" and "F### you mother F#####".

Loads of silent and annoying calls at all hours. They got rude with my mum when she said she didn’t want to talk anymore, proper horrible language. We’re on the TPS so haven’t had many calls like this lately. Really upset that my mum had to hear that kind of abuse.

Got two calls today, first one was just silent, then another around 2:43pm from a bloke claiming to be from the UK Government offering me £8000. I just laughed, then he said, "Mate, I f###ed your mum last night" and hung up. He had a pretty thick "Asian" accent and was hard to understand. Haven't had any pesky calls since switching my number 18 months ago. Fingers crossed this isn't the start of more nonsense.

002389001076 - dodgy firm ringing up claiming they’re offering an £8,000 grant as a ‘good citizen’ reward or something. I googled them while on the call and then just hung up. They called me straight back and asked why I’d ended the call. I told them, and they got really rude, so I hung up again. They rang back immediately and started swearing at me, so I pretty much told them where to shove it before hanging up once more. They’ve called six times in the last couple of minutes - not answering anymore!

Received a call purporting to be from the UK Government, saying I’d been picked to get a one-off grant of £8000 for my so-called 'loyalty'. Rather dubious, I must say. They want me to ring 0203 239 8052 to get my hands on the cash. Not a chance that I’ll be doing that!

Some bloke called claiming to be from some dept, but I couldn’t catch what he said. When I asked him to say it again, he just told me off, calling me a woman. I told him I’d already asked, then I just hung up. But he kept ringing till I had to unplug my phone to stop him.

Caught them out right away but figured I'd hear them out to check how believable they could get. They claimed I had to pay a quid to confirm I was the genuine person meant to get the cash. When I asked if that meant handing over my bank info, he ('Kevin') nervously said no no no, just have to call this number 02032398052, gave me a reference code and even made up a fake London address with the postcode WC1 V7CT.

My grandfather has received a staggering ten calls in just the last hour! He managed to have a brief chat on the first call, but he mentioned he's quite deaf and struggles to hear properly. Since then, they’ve been persistently calling back and just ending the call without a word. It’s becoming rather frustrating!

Caught on to their trick right away but stayed on the call just to hear how believable they’d sound. They said I had to pay a quid to confirm I was the correct person for the payout. When I asked if that meant sharing my bank info, the guy called 'Kevin' hesitated and quickly said no no no, just needed me to dial 02032398052. He also gave me a reference number and an obviously fake London address with the postcode WC1 V7CT.

I got nothing! They just cut off as soon as my answerphone kicked in. I reported it to both the ICO and Ofcom. Let the officials track them down and hit them with a big fine. If you dont bother reporting these calls regularly, they’ll just keep on pestering you. Filling in the forms is dead quick, mostly just tick boxes, so no excuse really!

I encountered a rather unpleasant situation where the individual was quite unhelpful and wouldn't remove my grandfather's number from their records. My grandfather, who is 93 and battling dementia, certainly doesn’t need this added stress.

Got a call from some bloke called Jason, claimed to be from the UK gov. Said my number was picked at random for £8000. When I asked how I was chosen, he said it was random. I said "yeah, you told me that already". Then he went off saying "oh, you think you’re smart, you c###. f#ck off!" and slammed the phone down. Still waiting on that cash though.

Some bloke rang me saying he was from the UK government and claimed I’d been randomly selected to get £8000 because I’ve got no criminal record! I thought, why on earth would the government just call to give me money? Didn’t believe it for a moment and just hung up. Then, I got a call from 0002088997766 pretending to be from Suffolk county council saying I was owed compensation for a recent accident - which I never even had. When I asked for a number to call back, he gave me some random local number. These calls are definitely scams.

Some bloke called claiming to be from the Government grant dept. I was like, "Oh yeah? So you're just handing out cash for free then?" He went all quiet, muttered something I couldn't catch. I asked, "If you're really from the government, what's my name?" He shouted back something rude about 'Miss R Sole' and then just hung up on me. Weird!

Caller claimed I had £8000 due from the government. I told them I wasn’t bothered by money, got enough to keep a roof over my head and buy food, so didn’t want any. That’s when they started going off, swearing and insulting my wife and daughters.
