I received a call from someone claiming to be from Open Reach, stating that my internet connection was sluggish. They persuaded me to share my bank details, promising a compensation payment of £320 to be credited to my account. Since then, I've been bothered by three further calls over the past month.

I got a call from some guy with an Asian accent and honestly, I could barely catch what he was saying. He claimed he was from BT Openreach and that there were issues with my internet router. After listening to him go on for a bit, I told him I wasn’t interested and he just ended the call. Later, I looked up the number online and it's definitely a scam. Loads of numbers like this one try and call me but they never actually ring through. I guess it’s because I’ve got a BT call blocking phone which I grabbed from Amazon for a bargain price. Honestly, it’s been brilliant - no annoying spam calls, no buzzing, no hassle at all. If you’re fed up with constant interruptions from random callers, I’d seriously say give one of these a go. Just to be clear, I’m not getting paid to say this or anything!

Got a call from 02190453342 around 7:45 this morning but no one spoke, just an automated "Goodbye". They've called me twice before in the past few days, same silent line. Last time I dealt with a similar number, it was supposedly BT Openreach saying there was a fault at the local exchange and they needed to set up my router. Watch out, could be dodgy.

Got a call from someone called Erica, sounded Asian and said she was from BT Openreach. She told me there was some issue with channel 568 because engineers had been on site nearby. I wasn’t convinced it was legit, but she kept insisting it was and even said she could connect me to a supervisor. Then, out of nowhere, the phone just went dead. Bit fishy if you ask me.

Had a right laugh with this muppet of a scammer earlier! He tried to sell me some story about calling from BT Openreach. I played along for a bit, keeping him chatting, then told him I didn’t even own a router. Suddenly he got all narky and started moaning about me wasting his time! I told him I didn’t ask for a phone call that early in the mornin’, and made it clear who was really being mugged off. Proper cheeky bloke!

So, this bloke said he was from BT Broadband, right? I was having some trouble with my internet, so I let him do some sort of line test and even gave him control of my PC. Turns out it was a scam, I got hacked and lost loads of stuff. Seriously, don’t pick up if you get a call like that!

Just like what others mentioned, I got a call from someone with an Asian accent asking about our internet service. I told them everything was fine with our broadband and we were happy with it. They quickly ended the call, but tried ringing back a few hours later. I didn’t bother picking up the second time.

They've been ringing me loads over the past couple of days, even at 7.30 in the morning! We usually let the answerphone handle unknown calls, so they never bother leaving a message. Still, it’s pretty annoying, especially that early call today. Cheers for this site though, it’s great for quickly spotting these scams.

This number, 0219045334, rang me at about half past seven in the morning pretending to be from BT Openreach. I quickly told them I’m not a BT customer and asked them to take me off their list and not call back. I also mentioned it was far too early to be ringing. They just hung up. Then they called back like 20 minutes later, laughing over the phone before hanging up again. Pretty rude!

This morning I got a call from a lady with an Indian accent. She told me to open regedit and look at the performance of my router. But the chart that popped up was just showing CPU usage, nothing related to my internet. Then she started giving me a bunch of numbers to enter, so I just ended the call right there.

When I quizzed him on what DLM meant, he completely misinterpreted it, which I found quite amusing! Just so you know, I work in telecoms myself.

Got two calls earlier from someone claiming to be from an Indian call centre. The person said they were with Openreach and told me the copper wiring from my house to the exchange was being improved, causing my broadband to work at just 30% capacity. They said I needed to adjust my router settings. While still chatting, I ran a speed test and it was exactly what I normally get. When I told him everything seemed fine, he just hung up straight away.

This is definitely a scam. I received a call from an Indian call centre, claiming to be from BT, informing me that there were engineers currently sorting out issues at my local exchange regarding broadband. The endgame here is quite clear-they're fishing for access to your computer in order to pilfer your banking information by masquerading as though they're issuing you a refund. Best to hang up and stay vigilant!

I've heard about this so-called "Openreach scam" where the crooks pretend to be from Openreach and somehow know details about your phone exchange. They tell you they're updating or replacing some server that won’t work with your computer, then push you to update your computer settings so they can sneak in. Our provider mentioned they’re getting loads of reports about this, and since the scammers keep switching up their phone numbers, they have no choice but to block every new one that comes through.
