Got a scammer ringing me while I was having my lunch at work; got all defensive straight away when I asked why a noisy call centre was bothering me. They said there was “no one else” and then started pretending to be from Interactive Energy, saying Scottish Power wanted to give me some deals. My advice - don’t pick up at all, but if you do, be super careful and don’t hand over any personal details.

The caller kept calling me Ms something, so I questioned why when I hadn’t given them my details. I told them I had no idea who the person they thought they were speaking to was, and that my chief inspector would want to deal with their call. They cut off right away.

This company called me about my energy bills. When I asked where they got my info, they said it was from some details I supposedly put in online while looking for deals. But I never went online to search for anything. They did know my name and address, but they had no clue who my energy provider was or how long I'd been with them. I told them I switched providers last year and am already saving money, but they then said I’m eligible for a £140 rebate on winter bills. I asked again where they found my details from. They tried to pass me onto someone else, but I said no and ended the call.

Somebody rang up saying they were from Interactive Energy. First, they said they weren’t trying to sell me anything, then straight away asked which company supplies my energy. I asked why they wanted to know, and they started saying they could save me a bit of money. I told them how would they know if I hadn’t told them my supplier? After a bit of back and forth, they just cut the call. If this is how Scottish Power does business, they really shouldn't be allowed to keep supplying.
