4 yearsI received a message on my computer, supposedly from Microsoft, claiming that my device had been breached and instructed me to call 020 8187 1315. It's rather suspicious!Microsoft4 yearsSomeone called me claiming they were from Microsoft, saying my ID and bank info were at risk from hackers. They wouldn’t provide any genuine Microsoft case number and the way they spoke didn’t seem very professional at all. I’m pretty sure it was just a scam.Microsoft4 yearsESB Energy keeps sending those pesky cold callers my way.ESB Energy4 yearsReceived a call from an unrecognised number, but no one uttered a word.4 yearsThis morning, I received a phone call from a lady with an Asian accent, but the line was filled with a lot of background clatter, which made it sound like a call centre. She mentioned she was representing Magnum Utilities on behalf of ESB Energy. I was all tied up at the time, whipping up some breakfast, so I couldn't really determine if it was a legitimate call or just one of those pesky marketing attempts.Magnum UtilitiesESB Energy5 yearsHonestly, I don’t think it’s a scam at all. These folks are legit contractors hired by ESB Energy. They’ve got to fit a certain number of smart meters every year because of government targets.ESB Energy5 yearsSome people keep ringing me, saying they're from the national energy suppliers association or something like that. I told 'em straight away on the first call that I wasn't interested, but they still keep calling me up to a couple times every day. I just don't pick up now. Anyone know how to make them stop for good? It's so annoying.National Association of Energy Suppliers5 yearsGot a call from someone saying they worked for the energy firm about installing smart meters. I told them I wasn’t interested at all.5 yearsTotal con artists, absolute rubbish!5 yearsI've been inundated with missed calls from this number lately. Eventually, they decided to leave a voicemail after not being able to reach me. Turns out, they're associated with Magnum Utilities, representing ESB Energy. I had received a text from ESB prior, so I was anticipating their call. The topic was about fitting next-gen smart meters, but I wasn't interested, so I kindly turned them down.ESB EnergyESB5 yearsI've been inundated with the typical nuisance calls. Between the 8th and 11th of November 2021, I received a staggering nine calls. On one particularly frustrating occasion, they rang me back three times in quick succession. It's utterly draining having to report these numbers repeatedly!5 yearsI received a call from a foreign call centre purporting to represent energy companies, trying to persuade me to have a smart meter installed. Instead of asking if I was interested, they came on rather strong, insisting on when they could schedule the installation. Just a reminder: there's absolutely no obligation to agree to a smart meter installation! Your existing meters will function perfectly well, and they won't guzzle any more energy than a shiny new smart meter. They seemed to know my name and even that I was a customer of ESB energy, which is currently So Energy. They kept insisting that having a smart meter would lead to savings on my bills. That's simply not true! The most effective way to manage your energy expenses is by turning off devices when they're not in use and being mindful about your consumption. A smart meter won't reduce your bills; that’s merely a marketing gimmick. These devices are essentially a way for energy companies to monitor your usage patterns and tweak your supply from afar. In my opinion, smart meters are vastly overrated, heavily advertised, and frankly, unnecessary. If you're keen on getting one, by all means do so, but make sure it's your decision, not one coerced by some aggressive sales tactics.ESBSo Energy5 yearsI can hear some coughing in the background, which gives off a rather unprofessional vibe! The voice was rather faint and had an American lilt to it. They claimed to be from ESG Energy, stating they were discussing the latest version of their smart meter. I'd advise you steer clear of this call - it feels rather dodgy and might be a scam!ESG Energy5 yearsI’ve checked that number more than 60 times now, and it’s gotta be a scam. The call ended before I could even pick up.5 yearsThe individual on the line refused to disclose their identity.5 yearsI could hear some background chatter like you’d find in an office, but after I called out a greeting and got no response, I decided to end the call.5 yearsReceived a call supposedly from ESB Energy, but then they just cut off.ESB Energy5 yearsThe call went unanswered.Submit Your Own Report (020 8187 1315)
