Got a call about some "insurance" for my appliances - sounded dodgy to me. Turns out it was one of those phone scams trying to trick people into paying for rubbish coverage. Luckily, I didn’t fall for it! Be careful, these calls are popping up everywhere.

Every hour without fail, I get these silent calls and when I check the answering machine, there’s never any message. Total waste of time!

Got two calls today. The first was about some washing machine warranty thing and they actually said my name, which creeped me out a bit. The second call, I could hear people chatting behind the caller but then they just ended the call. Bit odd if you ask me.

Whenever I get a random call, especially if I'm suspicious it might be a scam, I always ask for their company registration number, VAT number, and where they’re based. Real businesses won’t hesitate to give that info, but dodgy callers usually won’t and often just end the call. Don’t give out any details yourself until you’ve got those and made sure to call the company back on an official number.

My phone stopped the call from coming through, cause the previous one didn’t even leave a voicemail.

I keep getting calls for my husband, apparently about some boiler insurance. I've told them twice he's not here, and when I ask who it is, they just end the call.

I tried to sign up for a boiler insurance I actually don't have, and the caller was super rude before just ending the call on me. Proper cheeky!

I got a call again from someone saying they was with Appliance Direct. They told me my washing machine warranty ran out and asked if I wanted to renew it. I told them I already sorted that online (which I didn't) and they replied a bit confused, saying there must be an error with their records. When I tried to get more details, the call just cut off on them.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Appliance Group about a warranty for our washing machine. They said the warranty had run out. I said the washing machine’s pretty old and we never had a warranty on it, and he just said “oh, sorry” and ended the call. They somehow knew our name though, which was a bit odd. No idea where they got that from.

We weren’t home when they rang and they didn’t bother to leave a message on the answerphone. Seeing all the other comments, I’m pretty sure it was another one of those Cold-callers.

Got a call from someone with a scratchy voice claiming to be "Appliance Cover," offering to renew the insurance on my washing machine at a whopping 45% discount. I told them that wasn’t possible since I don’t even have any appliance cover. They insisted they’d cancel the policy anyway. I suggested they get in touch with the actual customer, but they insisted it was me, even knowing my name and part of my address. I just ended the call there. Definitely feels like a scam to me.

Some bloke called “John” claiming to be from an appliance firm, and he mentioned an old address I left like five years ago. He asked if I had a cover plan on my washer, and when I said yes, he just went quiet. I ended the call, thought it might be a scam. He sounded pretty dull and a bit sketchy, so I wasn’t going to keep chatting with him anyway, just too irritating!

Just like a few others have mentioned, I got a call from a bloke with a hoarse voice who knew my name and claimed he was calling from Appliance Group about my washing machine's warranty ending. I told him that couldn’t be right because I only bought the machine a few months back. He seemed a bit thrown, so I asked him what brand he was talking about. After a pause, he said Hotpoint! I haven’t owned a Hotpoint in ages! It really felt like he was trying to scam me, probably after my bank info.

Got a call about updating the insurance on my washing machine. I told them I wasn’t interested and just like that, they hung up on me. Not even a polite 'thank you' or anything. Doesn’t seem like the way a legit company would act!

They have been ringing me non-stop since yesterday, but whenever I pick up, it's completely silent on the other end. What really gets me is that they bug me while I'm at work and even when I'm trying to sleep. Does anyone know a way to put an end to these calls?
