Got a ring from someone claiming to be EE, saying they’d merged with BT and that they’d be switching me over to 5G first thing tomorrow. I asked for his name, and he said Mark. I told him I’d hang up and check with my nearby EE store. He just carried on talking like he didn’t hear me. I ended the call. Moments later, another call came through from a bloke saying he was David from EE - I’m certain it was the same guy. He went on about upgrading my EE SIM. I ended it again. No doubt about it, it was a scam.

If they ask for the PIN code that EE texts to your phone, don’t give it to them! handing that over is like giving the spammer full access to your phone account. The text might look legit because it’s from EE, but the people on the other end aren’t trustworthy at all. Just block their number straight away!

I got the same call like the one mentioned before. Apparently they're sending me a new sim card 'cause of some merger and an upgrade to 5G. The bloke told me to stay on the phone while he connected me to his manager, but I just hung up. Since then, no one's bothered to ring me back.

I got a call from this number saying something about 5G and that EE and BT are merging, and that my SIM card needed an update. They told me a new SIM would be posted to me tomorrow. Totally a scam, obviously.
