Scammers pretending to be from my bank! They said my account with a big reputable bank was at risk and offered to transfer my funds to a supposedly 'secure' new account. Total con artists, I really regret answering the phone!

I got a call from someone claiming to be from HSBC’s fraud department, using an 01142 number. They told me my card was used fraudulently and gave me the number 020 8123 5116 to call. When I rang back, the person didn’t say much until I asked if it was really HSBC, then they started asking for my bank details. I ended the call and got in touch with my local branch who explained that their numbers always begin with 0345, so the one I had was definitely a scam. They provided me with the real HSBC fraud line and I reported the whole thing to them.

I got called by someone claiming to be from Barclays Anti-Fraud team, who gave me this number. They said it was part of the Authorised Push Payment Fraud scam, where they warn you that your bank info has been nicked. Then they tell you to transfer your cash to a "safe account" supposedly for protection, but really it’s just a mule account run by scammers so they can easily make off with your money.

Be careful with this one! My elderly mum got a call saying her Virgin money account was at risk and they wanted her to move £15000 into a different account. She nearly fell for it! Please don’t pick up if this number rings you. Make sure to alert the fraud team and local cops straight away.
