I swear they must be thick or just don’t give a toss, ‘cause they’ve rung me a bunch of times already and somehow have all my details - name, address, the lot. I usually let them blabber on a bit, then when they try to get my card info, I ask them how they live with themselves and tell them to bugger off. It’s disgusting how these scumbags keep hassling folk, trying to pinch their hard-earned cash. Honestly, something needs to be done to put an end to this rubbish once and for all.

I told her I never owned a Hotpoint and asked if this was a scam. She got quite annoyed and insisted it was a genuine insurance company based in Brighton. I asked her if it was raining there today. She wasn’t sure. Then I asked if their office was close to the sea. No idea. That pretty much summed it up for me.

They couldn't tell me the brand or any policy details at all. Since it was a London number I asked where they were phoning from and the guy said Brighton, but couldn’t give me an actual address or phone number! He tried to sell me a warranty for £89 a year or £195 for three years. Once he saw I was asking loads of questions and not falling for it, he just hung up. Best to block this number although they’ll likely pop up using another one.
