Phone number ☎️ 02080798064 👆 is reported as a persistent scam operation impersonating O2, targeting customers with false offers of significant discounts. Callers often originate from overseas call centres but use UK numbers, frequently posing as O2 to obtain personal details, including one-time passcodes sent by O2 without the recipient’s request. Many reports highlight aggressive or rude behaviour when challenged, repeated calls if initially declined, and suspicious texts preceding calls. The scam aims to access and compromise O2 accounts, with potential financial fraud and SIM swapping risks. Users are strongly advised not to disclose any codes or personal information, to block the number, and to report incidents promptly to their network provider and the police via official channels such as 7726 and Action Fraud. Genuine O2 will never ask for security codes by phone.

I just got a call where they left a message saying it was a polite check-in from my bank and mentioned they’d be calling me back sometime later.

Weird thing happened - the phone didn’t even ring, and my sound was turned all the way up. Then I saw it was a silenced call and decided to block the number. Funny thing is, I’m not even with O2!

A call centre based in India pretended to be located in London by using a London phone number. They claimed to be representing O2 and promised discounted contracts. They then requested my account details and passcode for confirmation. Surprisingly, I received an unexpected passcode from O2 with a warning not to share it. Recognizing the suspicious nature of the call, I immediately terminated the conversation and blocked the number.

The individual claimed to be calling on behalf of O2, offering to reduce my bill by 30%. I questioned their authenticity when the call appeared on my phone as potential spam. In response, the caller became extremely annoyed and impolite. They assured me that their supervisor would contact me, but once again, it came through as suspected spam. I explained that O2 possessed my email address and could reach out to me that way regarding the offer, yet I received no such email.

Got a call from someone claiming to be O2, but the number showed up as a London one. They said they could give me contracts for half the price and asked me to confirm my account info and a passcode. Then I got a text from O2 with a code I never requested, telling me not to share it with anyone. Obviously a scam, so I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

So I picked up cause I was waiting for a ring from a London number. A really polite lady with an Asian accent asked how I was doing. Then she said she was calling from O2. When I told her I wasn’t interested, she just hung up on me.

Got a call from someone speaking with a strong accent, sounded like they were outside or somewhere noisy. They were pushing some sort of O2 SIM deal. I told them I’m not with O2 and I’d just signed a new contract for another couple of years anyway. Then they said they’d put me through to their manager. I told them to cross me off their list and ended the call. They rang straight back though, so I blocked the number.

Had a ring the other day and decided to humour the caller for a bit. They promised a 40% discount on my bill, but when I asked why this number kept popping up as a scam, they got quite snappy and defensive. Right after, I got another call from a Nottingham number 0115 647 4044, which from what others are saying seems linked. Been getting calls like this non-stop this week! I'm just blocking them all now.

I just had a dodgy call from an o2 scammer, and right after I ended it, I got another one from 01135349094, somewhere in Leeds, which was obviously another scam. Happens all the time - as soon as I pick up and then drop the first call, the second one rings straight away. I never bother picking that second call though.

Received a single text message from O2 and subsequently received a phone call from this particular number. It's advisable to steer clear.
3 years
Beware, there is a fraudulent number circulating. Should you happen to receive a text message from O2 containing a one-time password, be sure never to disclose it to anyone.

I have personally received an unsolicited text from O2, followed by a phone call from this particular number. The individual on the other end claimed that there was suspicious activity on my O2 network and required the aforementioned code.

I want to emphasize that these individuals are not affiliated with O2 in any way. By obtaining the passcode, they gain access to your account, allowing them to make unauthorized purchases through SMS and resulting in substantial charges.

Additionally, they can even perform a SIM swap, taking control of your phone number and gaining access to all accounts linked to that number.

Do not fall victim to this scam. Remember, O2 staff will never ask for your one-time password.

Got a phone call from a woman with an Asian accent offering me a huge discount on my mobile deal. Bit odd, right?
