I’ve had this ex-directory number for about 20 years, and rarely does anyone ring it apart from my family. I’ve also signed up with TPS. Lately, I've been getting loads of calls every day from different numbers, and one of them is 0208 040 2647. It’s really starting to annoy me.

Got a call from someone named Tom, said it was about damp problems linked to our loft insulation. Sounded proper British and the connection was dead clear. Thing is, we didn’t recently install any loft insulation, though it has caused some damp and roof trouble over time. When I rang back, I got some robotic American voice on the line. Definitely dodgy, not a genuine call.
