Had a similar experience, some bloke from India ringing me up with that call barring con. Honestly, telling the Ombudsman won’t stop these calls from India at all. Best thing is to just call them out, call them out as scoundrels and ask if their mums and dads would be proud of what they're up to. You might manage to block the number though.

What a nightmare! I usually just ignore calls from unfamiliar numbers, but this one rang after 6pm today and I picked up. Almost immediately I wanted to hang up. I told the person to take me off their call list or I’d be forced to report them to the ombudsman. Such a hassle!

They've called me five times in just one hour. The bloke on the phone sounded quite Indian and spoke super fast, saying something about the telephone preference service. I just ended the call straight away. Now that I realise who they are, I'm not picking up again for sure.

Got a call from this number too, claiming to be telephone preference management or something like that. I’d heard about scams like this before, so I just ended the call straight away and added the number to my phone’s block list.

So today I got a call from some bloke claiming to be with the Telephone Preference Service. I wasn’t having any of it, told him my ‘preference’ was to not get calls from him. Guess what? Not so funny to him!

A chap from India attempted to persuade me to upgrade my phone choice. It's quite a challenge to shake off those scamming types, isn't it?

Around 5 in the evening, my daughter answered a call from this number, where a man with a strong accent was going on about some upgrade stuff. Suddenly, he started asking her out on a date, which was totally inappropriate. She hung up straight away, but about twenty minutes later, he called again, trying some weird chat-up line that got even stranger, with heavy breathing and what sounded like some sort of rap. She's only twelve, and we're genuinely concerned he might know where we live. As soon as I got back, I reported the number to the police.

I’ve been getting way too many annoying calls recently, so nowadays I barely pick up the phone. I usually just check the voicemail or use 1471 to see who’s been calling. But yesterday evening, I answered and a guy with a strong Indian accent was trying to change my call settings. He actually knew my name, address, and postcode, and asked me to verify if I pay my phone bill by direct debit. I said yes, but when he wanted me to grab my bank card, I didn’t go any further. He kept pushing, so I just ended the call. Then, the same number rang me again this morning.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent asking for Mrs##########, which is my partner’s name. I told him she wasn’t available. Then he asked if I was Mr########## and I asked who was ringing. He started going on about some sort of call preference register - I’m not signed up to any of that rubbish, I actually enjoy messing around with these types! Ended up hanging up - what a total waste of time!

Got calls from this number about 8 times before 6:15 this evening. I usually don’t pick up if I don’t recognise the number (I’ve got Caller ID), but after seeing what people said here, I put it on BT’s Call Protect. Cheers for the heads-up!

They’ve called me four times already today. I’ve just filed a complaint with the ICO at www.ico.org.uk and honestly, it only took a couple of minutes. Would definitely recommend everyone else to do it too.

Got four calls from this number today, seems like some call centre in India pretending to be the UK Telephone Preference Service. They wanted me to confirm my address and then asked for my credit card details including the expiry date. Don’t get tricked by this scam, it’s definitely a dodgy operation. Make sure you report them to Action Fraud [###].

I got a call from someone saying they were with the telephone preference management service, but I didn’t really trust them. They said they needed to upgrade my service or something. When I asked for their info, they wouldn’t share any unless I agreed to the upgrade. They actually knew my name and where I live, which was creepy.

This number keeps calling me but I usually just let it ring. Today I picked up and some bloke started asking for a name I don't even know. Then he went on about whether I was getting annoying calls. I just said "Yeah, just this one" and ended the call.

I really appreciate the tip one of you shared earlier today. I ended up reporting this number to the ICO after it kept ringing me. It called me four times this afternoon, sometime between 2.48pm and 5.33pm. We’ve been registered with the TPS for ages, but it doesn’t seem to stop these annoying calls at all.

Every time I pick up, the call just cuts off. I stay quiet and wait for them to talk first. From what I’ve seen in other replies, it’s clear these calls are from scammers. I’ve put the number on my block list.
