I got a call from 07477568060 at first, but the connection was awful, so they rang me back from 02079477121. They said they were from HMRC and mentioned some tax problem that could end up in court. When they asked for my postcode, I started spelling out a made-up one. During that, I looked up the number online and realised it was a scam, so I quickly hung up and blocked both numbers. I received a rather alarming call from this number, with the caller claiming I was involved in some sort of tax fraud. He was quite insistent and had what sounded like an Indian accent, growing increasingly irate when I mentioned I needed to check with my accountant first. I decided to ring my accountant from a different line, and she advised me to hang up on the guy immediately, assuring me that the tax office wouldn't resort to such intimidation tactics over the phone. Quite the dodgy business, if you ask me!

The bloke on the line said his name was James Thompson, claiming to be a police officer with badge number 895660LR. He tried to make it seem like it was a call from HMRC. While I was still on the phone, I googled the numbers and HMRC’s criminal division sites popped up, but both numbers ended up linked to the Court of Appeal site instead. He kept telling me it was about some tax fraud issue. Felt fishy right away.

Received a call from 07405403712 with someone saying they were Amber Dorson, a tax officer. She reckoned I hadn’t sorted my tax payments and gave me two options: pay up now and say it was a genuine slip, or get dragged to court, get hit with a £29k bill and possibly do 5 years inside. I told her just put me through to the court straight away. She said I’d get a call back, then at the same time, another number 02079477121 rang claiming to be the courthouse. Definitely watch out for this one!

I received a rather dubious automated phone call that prompted me to press 1 for a chat with someone. An Indian gentleman came on the line, but when I started to inquire about the situation, he began to raise his voice quite aggressively. He was demanding a payment of £500, which seemed utterly ridiculous. To make matters worse, he rang me back not once, not twice, but five times! This sort of behaviour is unacceptable and must be dealt with - these people are nothing short of con artists!

Early morning on 4th February 2021, at around 8.11am, I got a call that turned out to be some sort of dodgy scam trying to scare me about being cut off or something like that. I just hung up straight away. I might have still been half asleep! Being 80 years old, this kind of thing isn’t amusing at all. What if it was actually a relative needing help? These scam callers need to be wiped out completely. The number that showed up was 06274120791.

Got a ring from someone saying they're Officer James Thompson, ID 98560LR - pure scam alert. This company is completely annoying! I've never been a customer and have no plans to be, but they just keep ringing me non stop. I've told them over and over that I don’t want any calls, I’m not interested in their stuff, and to take me off their list. Still, this week alone I’ve got 9 voicemails from them (which now go straight to block because of their pushy marketing). It’s so frustrating!

This morning, I got a call from a Liverpool code 0151 758 6310, then later, a number from London 020 7947 7121 called me about some benefit fraud thing, warning me I’d be arrested if I didn’t answer. Honestly, it was hard to make out what they were saying. They called back on that London number, but it was still all muffled. In the end, all I gave them was my name and postcode, nothing more.

I've just had a rather similar experience, to be honest. A woman with an accent that wasn't British called me up. She was rather insistent and came off as extremely forceful, almost hostile, if you will. She provided me with her officer ID number and, when I mentioned needing to contact someone to scrounge for the funds, her response was to tell me to say it was for a utility bill to keep it under wraps. The moment I echoed her instructions back to her, she cut the line. I was genuinely uncertain if I was being scammed at first, but the instant she suggested lying confirmed to me it was all dodgy. Someone called up claiming to be from HRMC's fraud team, saying my partner had an arrest warrant and needed to cough up £2000. Complete rubbish and total muppets!

I got a call from 2036310778 but the number showed up like it was from Alexandria, Egypt because they didn’t put the zero at the front properly. The call was really bad so they rang me again from 020 7947 7121 instead.

Some bloke said he was Officer Sam Watson, but his accent was clearly from South Asia, like Pakistani or Indian, which immediately made me suspicious. He had me go through loads of government websites and even called me again from the number he showed me. Then he threatened that if I didn’t cough up £1958.48 within 45 minutes, I’d have an arrest warrant against me, my passport and driver’s licence would get flagged, and I could be facing five years inside for tax evasion. I told him I’d pass it to my accountant and he just ended the call.

Had a really unpleasant call from a woman pretending to be from HMRC, threatening me with arrest over some unpaid tax. She sounded so pushy and rude, it was quite shocking.

On Saturday morning, 18th January 2020 at 09:35, I got a call from a lady who sounded really knowledgeable. She explained everything clearly, but when I asked if she could email me any paperwork, she said it was only sent through the post. I jotted down all the details she shared. Apparently, I had two choices: either challenge it in court and face the chance of a £25,000 fine plus up to 5 years inside, or settle a supposed tax error of £1963. At first, I felt genuinely frightened, though something didn’t quite add up. Folks really ought to be made aware of this scam quick smart.

Got a call today at 10.51 from 0207 200 8892, some bloke claiming HMRC had launched a fraud enquiry on me. HMRC definitely don’t notify you about something like that over the phone. They tried to scare me into paying right away. Total scam, watch out!

Today I got a call from 02079477121. The woman said I’d be arrested if I didn’t take action immediately. She then asked for my home address to “verify” it was me speaking. She also told me to look something up on google[###] to prove the call was genuine, but I said I couldn’t do that right then. When I asked for her name so I could check the number, she just hung up. Her voice was so rushed and intense, trying to scare me into acting fast, which made me panic a bit. Really awful experience!

My dad got a call from some people wanting his bank info, telling him to pay up in 45 minutes or they’d send the police to arrest him. Luckily, I found this site and it was a relief to see others warning about this too. Best thing to do - just hang up!

Received a call from someone purporting to be from HMRC, insisting that I settle a payment of £2199 over the phone. When I started asking questions, they abruptly cut the line. The caller seemed to have a foreign accent.
