Got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC, saying I owed loads in unpaid tax. They threatened that if I didn’t pay up, they’d come after my house and even said I could end up with a 5 year jail sentence. Really frightening stuff.

I just had a really long call from someone saying they were with HMRC and demanding £980. The bloke said his name was Jason Harris and he was pretty pushy, even told me to wait because the Police would be at my house soon. He really stressed me out and kept going on and on. The phone number he rang me from was 02079477121.

Got a call first from an 07 number, then this number popped up, which apparently shows up on some government site. I looked it up on who-called.co.uk just to be safe, and turns out it’s a tax scam. Told the person I’d checked on who-called.co.uk and they just ended the call straight away. Glad I double checked!

I got a call from 07507732893 and then they rang me again on 02079477121 claiming to be from HMRC. They told me I was facing court proceedings and warned that hanging up would be seen as dodging the case. I ended up cutting the call. This was clearly a scam!

I got a call from 07477568060 at first, but the connection was awful, so they rang me back from 02079477121. They said they were from HMRC and mentioned some tax problem that could end up in court. When they asked for my postcode, I started spelling out a made-up one. During that, I looked up the number online and realised it was a scam, so I quickly hung up and blocked both numbers. These scammers are horrible, and I get why some folks might get scared - they sound really intimidating. Big thanks to everyone who’s been leaving comments, it’s been really useful.

I received a rather alarming call from this number, with the caller claiming I was involved in some sort of tax fraud. He was quite insistent and had what sounded like an Indian accent, growing increasingly irate when I mentioned I needed to check with my accountant first. I decided to ring my accountant from a different line, and she advised me to hang up on the guy immediately, assuring me that the tax office wouldn't resort to such intimidation tactics over the phone. Quite the dodgy business, if you ask me!

So, I got a ring from 02087705671 and when I asked about verifying who they were, they shifted me over to 02079477121. The bloke on the line said his name was James Thompson, claiming to be a police officer with badge number 895660LR. He tried to make it seem like it was a call from HMRC. While I was still on the phone, I googled the numbers and HMRC’s criminal division sites popped up, but both numbers ended up linked to the Court of Appeal site instead. He kept telling me it was about some tax fraud issue. Felt fishy right away.

My 17 year old lad got a call from this number while he was at his job. They were saying he owed £2,000 for tax fraud and that there’s a warrant out for his arrest. He was so freaked out, he phoned me in the middle of his shift, totally panicking. The poor bloke’s got bad anxiety already. He’s only been working a few months too. Proper nasty stuff.

Received a call from 07405403712 with someone saying they were Amber Dorson, a tax officer. She reckoned I hadn’t sorted my tax payments and gave me two options: pay up now and say it was a genuine slip, or get dragged to court, get hit with a £29k bill and possibly do 5 years inside. I told her just put me through to the court straight away. She said I’d get a call back, then at the same time, another number 02079477121 rang claiming to be the courthouse. I received a rather dubious automated phone call that prompted me to press 1 for a chat with someone. An Indian gentleman came on the line, but when I started to inquire about the situation, he began to raise his voice quite aggressively. He was demanding a payment of £500, which seemed utterly ridiculous. To make matters worse, he rang me back not once, not twice, but five times! This sort of behaviour is unacceptable and must be dealt with - these people are nothing short of con artists!

Early morning on 4th February 2021, at around 8.11am, I got a call that turned out to be some sort of dodgy scam trying to scare me about being cut off or something like that. I just hung up straight away. I might have still been half asleep! Being 80 years old, this kind of thing isn’t amusing at all. What if it was actually a relative needing help? These scam callers need to be wiped out completely. The number that showed up was 06274120791.

I gotta say, I almost got taken in by these lot and was about to fork out £2986. They rang me on three separate phones and when I called back using the number from the official Gov.uk site, they sounded really legit. Then they told me not to hang up while I opened my bank account or else they'd have me nicked! I ended up ringing the actual HMRC and turns out I owe nothing, plus they always send a letter first if there's any debt. Just report them, don’t give them a penny!

Blimey, I was this close to falling for it and handing over £2986. They've rung me on three separate phones and when I phoned back, they used a number from the Gov.uk site which made it sound proper convincing. Then they started saying I shouldn't hang up while they waited while I logged into my bank, threatening I'd get nicked if I did! Ended up ringing the actual HMRC, turns out I don't owe a penny. Even if I had, they'd send a letter first, no doubt. Seriously, report it and keep your cash!

I've just finished a rather unsettling phone call with a woman who purported to be from HMRC. She insisted that I was due a tax refund and urged me to provide her with my personal information to sort it all out. This company is completely annoying! I've never been a customer and have no plans to be, but they just keep ringing me non stop. I've told them over and over that I don’t want any calls, I’m not interested in their stuff, and to take me off their list. Still, this week alone I’ve got 9 voicemails from them (which now go straight to block because of their pushy marketing). It’s so frustrating!

I received a rather dodgy call from this number claiming to be from HMRC. The individual on the other end was quite aggressive, threatening me with arrest if I didn't cough up £1700. Their English was quite difficult to understand-sounded like an Indian accent. They even rang me back from another number, which was 00441227385273. I had a similar experience recently. A call came through claiming there was a tax fraud linked to my name, and they urged me to press one since an arrest warrant had allegedly been issued for me. Then a gentleman with a pronounced Indian accent, claiming to be from “HMRC,” started grilling me about my personal details, such as my name and address, insisting that I’d failed to pay £100,000 in taxes over the last three years. Got a ring from 02079477121, some so-called officer Cristina from HMRC's criminal investigations. She said either me or my workmates mucked up the tax payments for a few years and now I supposedly owe about £2,800. The person got more hostile the longer we spoke. They did know my address and postcode but couldn’t answer when I asked for more details. They started threatening me with a possible 5-year prison sentence. At that point, I told them I’d contact my solicitor and ended the call. After that, they kept ringing me from different numbers, including 02079 477121 and 02062 005459.

Got a call like a bit ago from some dodgy number saying I was in trouble for tax evasion and that I'd better fork out some cash quick or I'd get nicked. They first rang me from 02079477121 then switched to 02036319899. Absolute scam if you ask me!

I've just had a rather similar experience, to be honest. A woman with an accent that wasn't British called me up. She was rather insistent and came off as extremely forceful, almost hostile, if you will. She provided me with her officer ID number and, when I mentioned needing to contact someone to scrounge for the funds, her response was to tell me to say it was for a utility bill to keep it under wraps. The moment I echoed her instructions back to her, she cut the line. I was genuinely uncertain if I was being scammed at first, but the instant she suggested lying confirmed to me it was all dodgy. Quite persuasive, especially for those who might not be in the know about the proper protocol.

Got a call claiming to be HMRC saying I'd ignored two alerts. They threatened me with a 5 year jail sentence and arrest warrant if I didn't pay up. They wanted me to send £2000 in 4 instalments. The number looked like it came from civil court but it was totally dodgy. Proper scam, watch out, they were really aggressive!

Received a call from someone purporting to be from HMRC, demanding that I fork out £2400 immediately over the phone. They were quite intimidating and even made threats about involving the police. The bloke had a strong foreign accent and was exceedingly confrontational.

I got a call from 02079477121 saying they were from HMRC FRAUD. They told me there’s a warrant out for my arrest because of some tax mistake. To sort it, they said I need to hire a criminal solicitor for court. They also threatened to freeze my money and cancel my passport. To avoid all this, they insisted I pay £1588 and meet one of their agents nearby my area. This really shook me up, especially since I’ve just got out of hospital. Be careful, folks!

I got a call from 2036310778 but the number showed up like it was from Alexandria, Egypt because they didn’t put the zero at the front properly. The call was really bad so they rang me again from 020 7947 7121 instead.

Some bloke said he was Officer Sam Watson, but his accent was clearly from South Asia, like Pakistani or Indian, which immediately made me suspicious. He had me go through loads of government websites and even called me again from the number he showed me. Then he threatened that if I didn’t cough up £1958.48 within 45 minutes, I’d have an arrest warrant against me, my passport and driver’s licence would get flagged, and I could be facing five years inside for tax evasion. I told him I’d pass it to my accountant and he just ended the call.

Had a really unpleasant call from a woman pretending to be from HMRC, threatening me with arrest over some unpaid tax. She sounded so pushy and rude, it was quite shocking.

On Saturday morning, 18th January 2020 at 09:35, I got a call from a lady who sounded really knowledgeable. She explained everything clearly, but when I asked if she could email me any paperwork, she said it was only sent through the post. I jotted down all the details she shared. Apparently, I had two choices: either challenge it in court and face the chance of a £25,000 fine plus up to 5 years inside, or settle a supposed tax error of £1963. At first, I felt genuinely frightened, though something didn’t quite add up. Folks really ought to be made aware of this scam quick smart.

Got a call today at 10.51 from 0207 200 8892, some bloke claiming HMRC had launched a fraud enquiry on me. HMRC definitely don’t notify you about something like that over the phone. They tried to scare me into paying right away. Total scam, watch out!

Today I got a call from 02079477121. The woman said I’d be arrested if I didn’t take action immediately. She then asked for my home address to “verify” it was me speaking. She also told me to look something up on google[###] to prove the call was genuine, but I said I couldn’t do that right then. When I asked for her name so I could check the number, she just hung up. Her voice was so rushed and intense, trying to scare me into acting fast, which made me panic a bit. Really awful experience!

My dad got a call from some people wanting his bank info, telling him to pay up in 45 minutes or they’d send the police to arrest him. Luckily, I found this site and it was a relief to see others warning about this too. Best thing to do - just hang up!

Today, my landline got a call from this number not long after it buzzed my mobile, which I didn’t catch in time either. Seems like just a spam caller bothering me twice within a short while! Total nuisance!
