Don’t pick up calls like that, I got tricked real bad. They told me I owed HMRC over £1,000 for some fine and threatened me with prison if I didn’t pay. I was totally freaked out and ended up buying loads of Amazon gift cards just like they said. I sent them pictures of all the codes, thinking it would sort things out, but now I’m stuck trying to get my money back from the bank and Amazon. It’s such a nightmare and they got away with it easily.

Honestly, just don’t pick up if you see a number starting with +44 20 instead of the usual 020. I got a call saying I supposedly had an arrest warrant and needed to pay £941 to “sort out” a case that wasn’t real at all. Thankfully, my mum spotted it was a scam straight away and told me to hang up. Definitely best to just ignore these calls!

020 7947 6879 Ringed me this morning, used the same number to convince me to check details on gov.uk. The guy said someone opened three bank accounts in my name and did dodgy transactions across Europe. Told me to move my money right away and tried to get me to send it thru the Wise app. He gave his own bank details and sort code, which I’ve reported to Action Fraud. Luckily, I didn’t send any cash as my password wasn’t right. I gave them my name, postcode and showed a photo of my BRP, just hope this doesn’t cause me any trouble.

Got a call saying I owed about £4,500 in unpaid tax and that there was a legal case going on. Since I actually do owe a similar amount in tax, I figured it might be legit. Got a call about some 'odd transactions' on my bank account. Definitely a scam trying to freak me out.

I received a voice message on my iPhone that claimed there was unusual activity on my Amazon account and prompted me to press one for more information. I found it rather dubious, so I just hung up without engaging.

Received a message regarding some activity in my account, but they instructed me to hit 2-which I chose not to do. They didn’t even bother with a proper introduction or identify themselves. Clearly a scam!

I received a rather dodgy voicemail claiming there was a suspicious £1499 transaction on my Amazon account. The message instructed me to either press 1 to freeze my account or 2 to report it immediately. Quite the scare, wasn't it?
