However, after ending the call, I came to the realization that it was all a hoax. In the event that you receive such a call, my advice is to confront and ridicule them if you have the opportunity. Playing with them and wasting their time will prevent them from targeting other individuals.

They wanted me to send £1,989 to an account under the name Nicusor Nan (account number 21679521, sort code 23-69-72 - maybe someone can track these fraudsters down with this info).

I got the same thing, they said I'd be jailed for 9 days if I didn't pay 2500 or 1400 within an hour. I asked for at least 3 days, but they said no, and that I'd be taken to court if I didn't have the cash in 30 minutes. They claimed they want to help me, so they gave me an hour. :)

I got a call from a Derby number initially, but after they hung up on me, I then got a call from this number. I was convinced it was legit until my manager pointed out it sounded like a scam. Weird thing is, when I looked up this number, it also came up as the administrative court. Does anyone have any idea why that would be?

I got a call from 02076703588 and an automated message claimed I was linked to a tax fraud investigation. They said if I didn’t press 1 to talk to an advisor, I'd be arrested. When I pressed 1, they connected me to someone who asked for my name and address. I didn’t give my address and told them I thought it was a scam. Then he told me to Google HMRC Admin Code 02079476655, which brought up a scam warning page. As soon as I mentioned that, he just ended the call.

Got a call today from these numbers 02073873575 and 02079476655 and honestly, it freaked me out. They claimed I owed £1596 for tax evasion from 2017. The person, Shae, said I had two choices: five years in prison or pay up straight away. She wanted me to download some app to send the money. I tried to hang up to ring my accountant but they kept calling back nonstop. When I asked for more info about the tax debt, she said she couldn’t share details because of security reasons, which made me realise it’s a scam. Nearly had a proper panic, the lady had an Asian accent too.

Just a heads up, folks! Got a call from someone saying he was MARK FOSTER from HMRC - but he sounded Indian, which was odd. It was convincing at first and nearly caught me out, but when he asked me to pay using a non-commercial bank or a credit or visa card, I got suspicious. Being self-employed, I could’ve easily missed something, so it genuinely freaked me out. He wouldn’t give me any info about the alleged fraud unless I paid half upfront and then claimed it back. This number rang me yesterday morning. A woman who said her name was TOKYO told me I’d be arrested if I didn’t pay £2000 in taxes. She kept threatening me with legal trouble and arrest. I just received a call from 02079476655! And this isn't the first time they've called. It's quite frightening because they sound legitimate. They claimed to be from HMRC and accused me of fraud, stating that I was being taken to court. They even asked if I could afford a solicitor. I won't block the number though, because if they call again, I am going to play along with their nonsense (without providing any personal information, of course). It's alarming because this number appears genuine and even provides details of a government website, making it seem more authentic. The truth is, these people who call us are the real fraudsters. They first rang me from 0141 456 9492 then from 020 7192 2739 and 020 7947 6655. Loads of their calls were really brief and kept cutting off midway. They claimed I messed up my tax payments last year and tried reaching me last month but found out I was overseas (which is true), then assumed I’d fled the country to dodge taxes. Totally not true, obviously. They also seemed to know I’m self-employed. They threatened that if I didn’t pay up, it would end up in court. I stood firm asking for some official documents and that seemed to put them off.

Proper rude bloke, even told me to “go ask others for money or it’ll get worse for me.” This morning alone I got three calls about tax evasion, saying I owe £2,345 now. Absolute scam.

This number rang me up and some bloke was saying I owe £1,700 or I'll end up doing 5 years in jail. He told me to find a criminal lawyer. When I cut the call, he kept ringing back and threatening me.

I got a call that was pretty similar and honestly it was quite stressful. When I told the woman I’d take it to court if it wasn’t a mistake, she just hung up. Then they rang back like twenty minutes later. By then I’d looked it up and chose not to pick up. What worries me is what kind of info they might have on me and what they might do with it?

Someone rang me pretending to be from HMRC, demanding I pay £1500 straight away over the phone or they'd send the police over. It felt quite real because the number they called from matched the one for the Administrative Court. They use that to make you think it’s legit and scare you into paying.

They rang me initially from 020 3852 9386. While we were talking the call dropped suddenly and almost straight away, someone called back from 020 7947 6655. I couldn't recall the name, but the person kept telling me I had to pay £1600, or else get a solicitor and possibly face two years in jail after the court decision. Just watch out and be cautious with these numbers.

Got a call from Stella Foster on this number but it originally rung me from 02073200545. They did the same thing as before, with all the threats and a really condescending tone. It was pretty well organised too, had a case number and loads of IDs ready.

Like loads of folks have said, I got a call from some bloke claiming to be from HMRC saying there was a warrant for my arrest or something. Got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, started with all the usual threats about arrest. They asked for my account number, but I stopped giving info when my bank couldn’t confirm the details. I said I thought it was a scam and was about to call HMRC myself, then hung up. Received a call from this number from a woman called Victoria Baker. It was one of those robo calls telling me to press one to talk to someone. Then suddenly, they started accusing me of owing £1900 in tax and said the cops were coming to arrest me soon. The line cut off after that, but then they rang back asking why I ended the call. Honestly, watch out - it’s definitely a scam.

I've had a similar experience that others are mentioning here. The first call came from +44 1332 675935. When I questioned the caller and pointed out that anyone could be pretending, making it hard to trust, they rang me right back, but this time from 02079476655. That second number seems legit and is listed for the Royal Court of Justice.

We got a call from 020 7947 6655 claiming to be from the Royal Court of Justice. Unfortunately, my husband fell for it and ended up losing £2000 to the scam. Really upsetting stuff.

Got a call from some number earlier today, they were claiming I was involved in fraud and demanded I pay up. Tried reaching out to HR Revenue but couldn’t get through. I got a call from that very number today. A woman on the line was really persistent, kept me on for about half an hour. I told her I didn’t have any money or card on me, said I’d head home and send the card details later. She kept telling me not to hang up. It’s the same old thing - after you pay, they say someone will visit you in a couple of hours about your case. Just best to block or ignore these calls, honestly.

somebody rang up a vulnerable person and really scared them. luckily, the person kept calm and soon figured it was probably a scam. sounded just like loads of other stories ive seen - threats about an arrest warrant, demanding £1500 or else get arrested right away. i managed to go round and calm them down, letting them know nothing would happen for real.

Got a call from these people telling me I had an arrest warrant out for me. They said the call was being recorded and if I hung up, it’d count as trying to run away and I'd get arrested. Then they told me to look up the phone number 020 7947 6655 on Google to see if it matched the GOV.UK site. The first result was actually this very site I’m on now.

Someone rang me claiming to be David Scott. He came across as really polished but quite scary. He said if I didn’t pay up within 45 minutes, there was an arrest warrant out for me. Afterwards, I got put through to the "Accounts team," and honestly, they sounded even more threatening. They were so believable, I almost would’ve paid on the spot if I’d had the cash ready. BE CAREFUL - these people are definitely scammers!!!!
