I got a call from someone saying they were from the Home Care Warranty Refund Dept, offering me £119 back for a washing machine. Thing is, I’m pretty sure I’ve never even bought a warranty. They knew my name and address but then asked for my DOB and bank details. I didn’t bother continuing the call and just ended it.

Totally a scam. Got about 3 calls just these past few days and a bunch more the week before. They claim it’s about some refund for appliance insurance and try to get your bank info. I usually end up telling them off about karma, judgement day, and how ashamed their mums must be before they hang up on me.

They’ve already got your name and postcode, now it’s just a matter of time before they ask for your bank details. Just tell these muppets to shove your refund where the sun don’t shine.

By the time I got to the phone, the caller had already hung up, so I never got to hear what they wanted to say. That’s why I marked it as Unknown.

I got a call a few times from someone saying they were from a washing machine warranty company. I told them I reckoned it was a scam and hung up straight away. They've now phoned me like 5 or 6 times since then.

This bunch have rung me up again, second time now. If they really had my details and owed me money, why don’t they just send a cheque through the post? But no, that’s too easy for them. I told them we’re up here in Scotland, not down in England, so they better not bother calling me anymore!

Somebody called me saying I’d paid £190 too much on a warranty for a washer or dryer and that they wanted to give me the money back. I asked if they could send it as cash (didn’t give them my address), and then they just hung up on me! Sounds like a scam to me - I reckon they were gonna try and get my bank info to "refund" me.

Had a call from someone named Susie, with a really thick Indian accent, saying she was with the Home Appliance Department and wanted to give me a refund of £119.20. Seemed a bit dodgy, so I asked if she needed my bank details and password. Right after that, the call just dropped out weirdly. I’ve blocked the number now, no chance I’m getting scammed.

When I phoned them, they came across as a proper company, mentioning PPS and saying all their advisors were tied up. They even told me if I wanted to stop the marketing calls, I had to do certain things. It all seemed pretty convincing, but trust me, it’s a scam - don’t get caught out!

This is the third time I've had these scammers ring me up, saying I'm owed some sort of 'refund'. I stood my ground and questioned them, only to be met with a load of awful abuse. Even though I’m ex-directory, they still manage to reach me. Like someone mentioned earlier, I’m planning to get in touch with my MP about this. It’s shocking how these fraudsters are still free to pester honest folks like us.

Got a call on my home phone from a bloke who already knew my name and where I lived. He claimed I’d paid too much on some insurance for my washing machine with Domestic & General. Got a few calls from these lot claiming I owed £118 for some warranty I never bought. They seemed to know my name and pushed for my bank info. I played along and asked them to send a cheque instead. This number rang me once, and just yesterday I got another call from what seemed like the same call centre, but the number finished with 04988. Both calls said I was due a £190 refund because I’d paid too much on a washing machine or tumble dryer warranty. When I tried to find out what brand or who the warranty was with, both callers pretty much told me I didn’t need to know that info! I never got as far as giving my bank details, but during the second call I cheekily asked if I could get paid in cash instead. The woman just hung up on me - bit rude if you ask me!

Today I got a call on my landline from someone claiming they were going to refund me £190 for an overpaid washing machine insurance. They kept telling me it couldn’t be dodgy since all they needed was my bank account number and sort code. I asked them to just send a cheque instead. Then they said they still had to have my bank details to do that. I refused completely, saying there’s no way I’d give out my info. At that point, she snapped, “Then why bother wasting my time?” Since I reminded her she was the one who called me, she ended up calling me mad and hung up on me! What a ridiculous experience.

This number called me and it was a guy with a South Asian accent saying I was due £119 or maybe £190 (couldn't quite catch it) for a washing machine warranty. I told him I wasn't interested and hung up straight away. Pretty clear it’s a scam since I don’t even have any warranty on my washing machine. The weird thing is they couldnt tell me what make my washing machine was, where I bought it, or even when. Thing is, I don’t have any warranty on the machine at all, so I reckon it’s a total scam. Never come across that company before either.

Got this annoying call from a number I only put on my eBay page, nowhere else. So it’s pretty clear where they grabbed it from. Total nuisance!

Got a call from some bloke named Peter, said it was about my washing machine’s warranty and claimed he had to give me a £199 refund. He told me he couldn’t take my bank details because of GDPR, which is daft - he rang me up in the first place without asking! The whole thing was basically him trying to get me to let him on my computer so he could “log in” to my bank and move money to some account of his, probably to buy some dodgy cryptocurrency. Total scam if you ask me.

Got a call on my landline from a woman claiming to be with Home Care. She said I’d been accidentally sent £119 for my washing machine. Pretty sure it was some kind of mix-up or scam.

I keep getting calls from numbers that sound alike, usually around 5 in the evening. They never say a word, just silence on the line. Happens at least once a week.

This morning, like around 7.45am on 15/03/2022, I got a ring from this number. I asked who it was and why the early call, but they just ended the call right away. So, I phoned back but blocked my number first. Then, there was a recorded message saying they were TPS and couldn’t answer my call cause they were busy. Weird!

This number has rung me a couple of times over the past week. The callers claim they need to refund money from an old washing machine insurance, but I had a bad feeling and hung up before any bank info was asked for. They mentioned GDPR as the reason they couldn’t just put the refund straight back into my original account. Seems fishy to me.

Somebody rang me saying they were gonna give me a refund for my washing machine insurance. I said I wasn’t interested and just ended the call. Pretty clear it was just some dodgy scammer trying to get hold of my bank info. Funny thing is, loads of these callers seem to use the same name - R. Soles or something like that!

Got a call from this number earlier today, someone claimed I owed £190 for a washing machine I supposedly pay for monthly. I told them I don’t buy any washing machines, my husband handles that. They insisted it was under my name and asked for my address. When I asked which company the machine was from, they dodged the question and didn’t give a clear reply. I just said thanks but no thanks, hung up, and blocked the number straight away.

Lately, loads of calls have been coming from 02045 numbers. I don’t bother answering them anymore because I figured out what they usually mean. I can’t say from my own chats what they say exactly, but from what others have said, looks like these calls are after your bank info, so best avoided as they're probably dodgy.

Right, so they rang me about 7:30 in the evening - bit cheeky if you ask me! Didn’t answer and they didn’t bother to leave a voicemail either. Could it be one of those dodgy washing machine repair scams, perhaps?

When they offered to give me back £119, I just felt like no thanks, that’s enough for me to pass on it.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming I’d been overcharged for a washing machine warranty - which I don’t even own! He kept going on about refunding me. I asked for the money back to the original payment method and he insisted it was charged to my card, so they'd need the card details. I refused and said send me a cheque instead, but he said that wasn’t possible. When I mentioned I was recording the call, they just cut me off. They were super pushy throughout. Definitely stay alert and warn older family or friends about stuff like this!

Got a call from some supposed "Home Repair" company, but they had a weird accent, not British. I just ended the call straight away. Then, a few hours later, they rang me again but disconnected right when I answered. Pretty dodgy if you ask me.

I got a call from someone saying I'd paid too much for my washing machine warranty and that I was due a refund of £119. They asked for my bank details, but since they already knew my address, I told them to just post me a cheque instead. After that, they just disconnected the call.

Someone called saying they were refunding me for a washing machine I bought, they even knew my first name. Asked for my bank info to process the refund but I wasn’t having any of it, thought it was a scam. As soon as I said no, they just ended the call.

Had a call from someone with a heavy Indian or Pakistani accent, who said his name was John. He claimed he was trying to give me a refund for a washing machine warranty I supposedly bought. Pretty clear it was a scam, since I don’t even have any warranty on a washing machine.

Bought a tumble dryer from Currys last week and made it clear I didn't want any extra warranty. This evening, I got a call from this number but didn’t pick up. When I searched it here, loads of comments say it’s a scam about warranties. Makes me wonder if Currys has had another data breach or something. I can’t believe they’d be trying to push warranties after I already declined.
