02045204988 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02045204988 👆 is reported as a persistent scam involving callers claiming to offer refunds - usually around £119 - on washing machine warranties or insurance that victims do not have. Callers often have heavy South Asian accents and use first names only, pressing for bank details including sort codes and IBAN numbers. They sometimes become rude or hang up when challenged. Many victims advise not to engage, never disclose personal or financial details, and to report the number to Action Fraud or the ICO. Calls often originate from call centres, sometimes with spoofed UK numbers, and attempts to confirm identities or request a postal refund letter result in hang-ups. The consensus is to block the number, treat it as fraudulent, and contact local MPs to support stricter telecom regulations to prevent such nuisance and dangerous scam calls.

Got a call from someone with a strong accent, asking for Mrs and used my first name instead of my surname straight away, which always rings alarm bells. They said I was owed £119 as a refund for an overpaid washing machine warranty. When they asked how I wanted the refund, I knew the next step was them fishing for my bank details. I told them to just send the money to the account they already had on file. As expected, they ended the call abruptly. It’s not only these scammers that should be cracked down on, but also the people who keep passing our info around.

This number 02045204988 keeps ringing me claiming there's a refund for an overpaid washing machine. They wanted my bank info, but I said just post me a cheque instead. Got a call from someone named Arran about a refund for a washing machine warranty costing £119. When I asked, he said he was with Domestic & General, or D G. I told him to remove my number from their list since I’ve never dealt with D & G and my number’s unlisted. This is like the 10th time they’ve rung me!

In the past two weeks, I've gotten about six calls from the same area code, and all the numbers seem pretty similar. Every time I answer, the call just drops and no one talks. Looks like it's one of those washing-machine scams to me.

People should definitely report calls like these to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). They deal with annoying and illegal calls and can take steps to stop them. Just look up ICO online. Once on their site, click the ‘Make a Complaint’ option on the menu at the top, then choose the options for nuisance calls and spam messages. Make sure to pick ‘Sales call from a live person’ and fill out the details about the caller’s number and anything else they ask for.

Got a call asking for my mother-in-law by her name. I decided to humour them and after a bit they asked which account I wanted a refund sent to. I told them I preferred cash. Got a call from someone saying they were from "Homecare" and they wanted to give me £119 back because I’d apparently been charged too much for a washing machine I bought like 15 years ago. They've rung me a couple of times already. Played along like I was interested and got passed up to a supervisor. Just don’t see how they’d scam me out of my IBAN info if I’m careful. Had a nice little chat with the caller, then I jokingly said they’d end up with terrible karma and probably fry in hell instead of having another life. She then threatened to slap me! Proper funny, if you ask me.

I told her how could she sleep at night, taking money off vulnerable folks like that. I got a call from 02045204988, and the person on the line was saying I'd paid too much for my washing machine warranty and were offering a refund. Sounds like complete nonsense to me. I told him straight it was rubbish and ended the call.

I received a call regarding a supposed £119 refund that was owed to me. I instructed them to process the refund back to the card I used for the transaction. Suddenly, the woman on the other end, who spoke with an accent, fell silent and then abruptly hung up.

I just asked who was on the line and they quickly said bye before cutting off the call.

Got a call from someone claiming they’d overbilled me on a washing machine warranty and wanted to know how I’d like a refund. I told them I never buy those warranties and asked which company they were with before they just cut me off. Proper cheeky! Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

Just a heads up about numbers like 02045204988, 02045204989, and 02045203540 - they’re dodgy washing machine scam calls. They come from call centres and use fake landline numbers, so watch out, they’re not to be trusted.

They've been ringing repeatedly about household appliances, and now they've gone and called me at 7:45 on a Sunday of all times. Before, they claimed I’d been overcharged. I’ve asked them to take my number off their list, but they just keep on calling anyway.

This woman who introduced herself as Lesley called me, claiming I should get a refund of £19.99 for a washing machine warranty. When I mentioned I’d already got rid of the machine and dumped it locally, she insisted the refund was for a new washer. I then asked her what brand my current machine was and how long the warranty lasted, and she just ended the call.

Someone called claiming her name was Lesley and said I was owed £19.99 back for a washing machine warranty. I told her I’d already chucked my washer at the local tip, but she argued it was for a new machine I supposedly had. When I asked her which brand it was and how long the warranty lasted, she just hung up on me. In the background, I could hear people talking about an issue with their broadband router.

I got a call from this number saying I could get a refund for my washing machine insurance. When I told them to just post me a cheque instead, they hung up straight away. Pretty sure it was a scam to try and snatch my bank info.

Got a call from some foreign bloke who couldn’t even say my name right, saying he wanted to give me back cash taken for washing machine insurance I never asked for. If I’d had more patience, I might’ve messed about with him a bit. Instead, I just told him to forget it. They’re more laughable than threatening, really.

Got a call from a woman with a thick South Asian accent, lots of noise in the background. She said I’d been charged £119 for some Domestic Appliance Insurance. When I asked which company she was with, she just cut the call. Pretty clear it was a scam, sadly.

Like others have said, I got a call about a £119 refund for a washing machine warranty problem. They asked for my bank info, and I wasn’t having any of it. Told the woman she was a total scammer and maybe find a real job instead. I wasn’t exactly polite, so she ended up cutting me off. Could hear loads of other people in the background all saying the same thing during the call. Not long after, I got another call, supposedly from 'BT' about my internet. Just another day full of scams, sadly.

03/12/2022 Got a call about some kind of washing machine refund (insurance thing, I think). They wanted my bank info right away. They had my name and address, so I told them to send something official through the post. They said that wasn’t possible. I reminded them they had my address, so why not? Then I just ended the call. Sounds like a dodgy bank details scam to me.

I received a call from 02045204988 at half past eleven on the 12th of March, 2022. It was clearly a bunch of insurance con artists. The chap on the other end had a thick Indian accent, probably from Birmingham, and the line was dreadful. He was trying to pass himself off as a legitimate insurance representative, when in fact, he was just another dodgy scammer. The whole conversation was nothing but a load of nonsense - you know, the classic ramble of nonsense that scammers tend to spout. Absolutely shameless, these fraudsters! Just thought I’d share this encounter with everyone - be cautious out there!
