Got a call claiming to be from my bank's fraud department, but it was totally a scam trying to steal my info. Definitely fake security alert, don't fall for it!

There’s a couple posts here about how to put an end to all these spam calls. It’s a bit of a faff, but I’ve gone through with it and still keep reporting dodgy calls and texts to the police online (their site’s bookmarked). Thing is, it’ll need a massive number of folks doing the same before there’s any change. Loads of people report scam calls here every single day. I did get a reply from my local MP, which was kinda interesting, but honestly, it’s gonna take way more than just one person raising concerns for anything to get moving.

Like loads of others are saying, £350 got taken from my bank by ‘Amazon’ and then £1300 for some dodgy overseas payment. It was all automated messages and you just had to keep pressing buttons to even get through to anyone. Total nightmare.

BEWARE OF SCAMS! Make sure to report any dodgy calls or messages straight to the police fraud team. Just search for 'action fraud' or visit the 'police.uk' website. Once there, find the section for reporting phishing scams and take your time to read all the info provided. You'll then be able to submit the details of the scam, including any links or URLs you got. You don’t need to sign up or give any personal info. Reporting stuff like this is the best way to help the cops get a handle on how widespread these crook attempts are.

It's definitely a con! Best to just let it be - steer clear of calling them back or clicking on any links they provide. They can't fleece you out of your cash if you don't engage with them. There's really no reason to consult your bank; by ignoring their attempts, they'll likely just shift their focus to someone else who’s more gullible.
