Cheers for the comments, they've been pretty useful. I got a call like the ones mentioned here, plus another from a London number that actually showed up as a proper company when I looked it up. I didn’t pick up at first since it was an unknown number. Feels like my info might have been leaked or sold somewhere along the line.

These dodgy callers were after gift cards, I reckon. Total scam!

i got a call from someone overseas claiming i'd somehow qualified for extra benefits linked to my life insurance. they actually knew my name but skipped any sort of identity check, going straight for their sales pitch. twice now, different numbers, both pretty pushy and confused why i wasn't keen on these so-called benefits. i was polite and asked them not to ring back, but they clearly don't take no for an answer. when they say "is this xx?" just deny it and use a made-up name. if they keep pushing and start using your real name, just tell them to jog on!

Got a call from this number but when I picked up, there was just silence and then it disconnected. Feels a bit dodgy, sounds like it might be a scam. Be careful out there.

I tried ringing this number back but it just doesn’t connect. Seems like one of those dodgy calls from abroad where they fake a London landline. I used to get similar calls that looked like they were from a local number, with someone pretending to be from TalkTalk, warning me my internet would be cut unless I gave them my bank info because apparently they “lost” mine. This number definitely fits that pattern.
