02045099699 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 02045099699 👆 is reported as a persistent Microsoft-themed scam targeting UK residents, with callers often using foreign accents and aggressive tactics to convince recipients their computers are compromised or hacked. The scammers typically pressure individuals to run commands, give remote access, or reveal personal information, sometimes becoming abusive when challenged. Despite the use of legitimate-sounding names and some knowledge of victims’ details, these calls are widely recognised as fraudulent. Blocking numbers is often ineffective as they frequently change or spoof genuine UK contacts. Victims are strongly advised not to engage, report all incidents to official fraud agencies, and contact their MPs to urge implementation of stronger telecom protections against these pervasive scams.

I got a call from someone called "David" saying he was from Microsoft. As soon as I mentioned I didn’t use a Microsoft PC, he tried switching gears and asked if I had a tablet. I said yes, but they're all ones my doctor prescribed. Then, without another word, he just dropped the call.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, saying my account got hacked and my security couldn’t pick it up. They wanted me to turn on my computer so they could prove what programs were running. Sounded pretty legit at first, but after chatting with her for a while, I just ended up hanging up.

This morning at about 10:45, I got a call from 02045099699. The person on the other end was pretty pushy, trying to make me enter some stuff on my computer. They didn't give up easily and rang me four more times one after the other.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, saying my computer was hacked. After I kept him waiting on hold for like 20 minutes, he got proper rude and started saying I was just wasting his time. Then he called back and threatened to block my number if I didn’t do what he said and open the command prompt. When I didn’t, we ended up shouting swear words at each other. Total nightmare!

I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent, saying she was with Microsoft. She kept pushing and told me she had proof that my computer was involved in some child porn stuff. She said she'd call back again! I've blocked the number now.

At first, I was told the caller was a woman named Grace. Then they handed me over to a supervisor who claimed to be from Microsoft and said they actually made my computer, which I know isn't true. Later, they changed the story and said they were just the creators of Windows. They kept insisting that someone was trying to get into my bank account. I asked them for clear evidence that they weren’t fishing for my bank details, but they completely ignored me and just kept repeating the same nonsense.

This guy with an Asian accent kept ringing me claiming he was from Microsoft, saying there was an issue with my PC. I told him my computer was fine and ended the call. He tried calling back like half a dozen times even after I said he sounded like a scammer. Eventually, when I didn’t pick up, he stopped bothering me.

I never caught his name, but he had an Asian accent. He said he was from Microsoft and that my computer was under attack, leaving hackers able to get all my info including bank stuff. He kept pushing, saying if I didn’t act, they’d have to shut down my PC. Then he said if that happened, I’d have to take it in person to the Microsoft office at Thames Valley Park, No1 Reading RG61WG. Didn’t care that I told him I was stuck in bed and it was a one-time call. Seemed fishy, so I just hung up. Then I got another call from 0203338658 with the same story. Ended that one too.

Got a call earlier today from a guy claiming to be from Microsoft, said there'd been some dodgy activity using my name. He sounded Asian, asked me to press fn and R keys together and then to tell him what popped up on my screen. I didn’t actually press those keys but told him I did and my screen went blank, just like the bloke! I’m already backed up by two different companies who monitor my computer, so if those folks aren't doing their job, then this has to be yet another scam going about. Weird thing is, he did know my full name and address and things, so kinda freaky.

So, this bloke rings up saying he’s Michael Oliver from Microsoft, talking about my computer. I just ask, ‘What’s this about then?’ and all I get is silence with some background noise like a busy call centre. Waited a couple of minutes hoping he’d say something, but nah, nothing. Ended up hanging up and blocking the number straight away.

Saw the 020 code on my phone but wasn’t expecting any calls from London, so I chose to ignore it. The thing is, I have no idea how they managed to get my number in the first place. That’s what bugs me the most.

Just got a call from 02045099699. When I picked up, the woman with an Indian accent said “national fraud helpline.” I told her, “you’re lying,” and she snapped back with “at least I’m not a thief.” Then she hung up on me. What a cheek!

I got a call from someone claiming to work for Microsoft, and they were pretty insistent. They kept going on about some foreign IP addresses supposedly hacking my computer. I told them it sounded like a scam, but they wouldn’t back down and said my Microsoft license would be revoked if I didn’t comply. They asked me to type in a ‘cmd netstat’ command, but I didn’t go along with it. Not rude or anything, just really persistent.

I got a call from a guy pretending to be a senior tech at Microsoft, telling me my computer was hacked. He went on with loads of rubbish trying to get me to let him control my PC. When I told him I wasn’t buying it, he warned I wouldn’t be able to access my files after three days.

The number he called from was 020 4509 9699, which apparently was reported 1471 times before. When I answered, the person said it was "Microsoft Technical Services". I asked where he was calling from, and he said "Reading". Then when I asked which department in Technical Services, he just hung up.

I don't usually answer calls from numbers I don't recognise, so when I asked how they got my details, they insisted it wasn't an unsolicited call and claimed to be from Microsoft. Honestly, someone ought to sort these scammers out properly - we need proper government laws to tackle this pronto.
