Got a call from some bloke saying I was a finalist for a chance to win £9000. I told him I’d looked up his number and reckoned it was dodgy. He just said he was calling to wish me luck and that the draw was on 28th Feb. 🀷‍♀️

I took part in this ITV competition where the answer was 'Football', but instead of getting a phone call, they sent me a letter with another word search to solve, which I dumbly did again! Got a missed call from this number tonight so I decided to check it out. Defo not picking up if they call again. Proper feel like an idiot right now!

02039677026 called me claiming I’d made it to the final round of some ITV contest, which I had actually entered. They even mentioned the winning word and asked what I’d spend the prize on. Then offered me 20 free lottery tickets and a word search, but said I’d need to pay £1.99 for postage and subscribe. They assured me I could cancel anytime! Such a convincing SCAM!!! I usually don’t pick up unknown numbers, but BE CAREFUL!!!

I got a call about a TV word search contest saying I made it to the final round, which seemed pretty cool. They also mentioned I'd get 20 lottery tickets and a word search book with chances to win cash. It all sounded alright, but then they asked me to pay £1.50 for postage. I didn’t feel comfortable giving my bank details on the phone, so I told them no.

Didn’t pick up coz it seemed like a dodgy number, but when I got back I found a letter from that TV crossword contest I foolishly joined. After seeing what others said, I’m just going to block it and flag it as risky.

Got a call from 02039677026 saying I've made it to the final round of a crossword competition on TV. I did enter it, so that part's legit. They told me the draw is at the end of Feb and if I win, they’ll ring to check my address before sending a cheque. No bank info needed or any fees asked πŸ€” Feels dodgy though, like another one of those scams πŸ™„

Got a call earlier from someone saying I’d been entered into a draw to win £9500 for spotting a sport in a TV word puzzle, which was football. They asked for my bank info, claiming they’d send a word search book to win even more cash. They chatted me up a bit and already knew my name and address. I figured something linked to a TV quiz would be properly regulated, so I’m surprised they had access to my personal info like that.

I received a rather dubious call claiming I had clinched a spot in the final of an ITV game show, which I hadn’t entered. Now they were asking for a payment of £2 to be eligible for the grand prize draw. It utterly baffles me why one would need to fork out cash just to partake in a draw! I made it clear that I only engage in financial transactions in person, and surprise, surprise, they haven’t bothered to call back since. Honestly, I have my suspicions that this ITV game show is nothing more than a massive con, and it’s quite alarming that it’s broadcasted on national television hosted by someone who must surely know better.

Some young woman called me saying I’d won an opportunity to enter a contest for £9000 plus £40 in lottery tickets. They asked me to find the word “football” in a wordsearch. I just needed to hand over my bank info so they could send the lottery tickets and the wordsearch book.

Just called back a missed call today and ended up chatting with a nice guy who said I’d got into a final prize draw for £9500 because I spotted the word 'football' in some TV word search thing. I did remember the word search and thought it might be real, so I called back. The bloke asked what I’d spend the money on and said they’d ring me Friday if I won. I’m a bit trusting, so really glad I decided to check the number online today. Seems like it’s probably allowed by law but really feels like a scam after reading everyone’s experiences here. Best to stay clear.

Some bloke named Joshua or something rang me up saying I’d been picked for a £1000 TV Wordsearch contest and that I could move onto another one worth £9500. He asked what I’d do with the cash and then mentioned they’d be sending me a book full of other lottery tickets. All I had to do was cover the postage, £1.98. I told him I wasn’t giving out my card info. He tried to convince me he was legit, saying how else would he know my details and address. Glad I saw through it just in time because it sounded pretty convincing.

Just got a call saying, “we're searching for someone who used this number to enter a TV contest with the word FOOTBALL, was it you?” Like seriously, if you’re phoning my mobile, you’d already know that, right?! Thankfully, she caught me when I was awake and I’m not into football anyway, so I didn’t get drawn in. Told her straight up, “no” and hung up. After reading other comments, I hope you all did the same! Any proper contest won’t ask for your bank details or any cash upfront.

02039677026 I got a call from a very polite man today saying I’d been chosen as a finalist in a crossword contest where I could win £17,500. He said I could pay £1.95 to buy a crossword book to enter more comps. He even asked me what I'd do with the prize! He knew my full name, address, and mobile number. But when he mentioned there’d be ongoing monthly charges, that’s when I got suspicious, bit late really but still better than nothing. Luckily, I didn’t give them any card info.

Phoned my mum claiming she won a crossword contest (which she actually entered) and she'd be going into the final draw next January. They said she’d get some crossword books as a bonus prize, but asked for her bank info to take £1.95 for postage. Total scam, but how on earth did they know she took part in the competition?!

My mum got a call saying she’d won 40 lottery tickets from an ITV competition she’d entered (which she did). But they wanted £1.95 to cover postage and they wouldn’t accept PayPal. They even said, “Don’t worry, this isn’t a scam.” I told her to hang up just before she was gonna pay! Then I found this site. The odd thing is, she did actually enter a comp that popped up in the adverts. Now I’m thinking maybe that competition itself was dodgy? Never ever give your card details to cold callers!

A really polite and well spoken sales person called to say that I had the right answer on an ITV quiz I had entered 3 days earlier. They asked me how tricky I found the Daffodil question then said I was through to the final and told me a bit about the company they worked for. They said I had won 20 lotto tickets, £30 worth of euro lottery tickets, and a puzzle book, but that I would need to pay £1.95 for postage and packaging. Alarm bells started ringing when they asked for my credit or debit card details. They already had all my info correct though.

Got a call this morning from someone claiming I’d entered an ITV competition back in February (no idea about that, and my messages don’t show anything). They said I’d be in a draw to win £17,000. To receive the puzzle book and lottery tickets, I’d have to pay £1.95 for postage. I asked if I could pay when it arrived, but they said Royal Mail insists on paying postage upfront. I said no thanks. They did have my name (spelled my surname wrong, but I didn’t bother correcting them) and my address - not sure where they got it from. I've blocked the number now.

The TV stations showing these ads wont stop since theyre getting paid for it but if enough people complain or start a petition they might have to pay attention. Also, if this isnt a scam, where are the "real winners"? Prove it! Im sick of this and gonna speak up for everyone. This has to end now!

Someone called me saying I’d won a crossword book and £40 in lottery tickets! They claimed I’d entered some crossword contest and made it to the final round. They then asked me to pay £1.95 for postage so they could send the prize. I told them I wasn’t comfortable giving out my bank info over the phone, and they said they wouldn’t see it on their end anyway. Just a heads up, this is definitely a scam and they’re after your bank details. I have no idea how they find out about the crossword competition entries, but ITV really should investigate this properly.

Just like someone else mentioned here, I get calls around 5 times daily saying I’ve won some crossword prize from a TV competition. They ask for my bank info but of course I refuse to share any. How on earth does Channel 4 let these scams run under their name when it’s obviously a con?

When I picked up, nobody spoke, so I'm guessing it's a scam. Got this on my mobile. Also had a couple of calls on my landline earlier today from different numbers, probably the same dodgy scam.

TOTALLY A SCAM. They keep hassling you (after you join some tv quiz). Pretty clear they’re after your card info.

Received a call on the 5th of October, 2020. A woman informed me that I had participated in a television wordsearch competition back in January - which, regrettably, was accurate - and that I had made it to the semifinals for a chance to snag £10,000. Just so you know, the adverts for this wordsearch were airing on Challenge. But ever since, I've received several letters and have done a bit of digging. Turns out, the firm running this gig has previously faced penalties for scamming folk. Shortly after, she mentioned that the next draw wouldn’t be held until January of the following year... a whole flipping year! I asked why such a delay, and her response? "Due to COVID." Right, sure. I expressed my desire to withdraw. "What do you mean?" she asked, perplexed. I said I wanted to opt out. "Why's that?" I explained that my research had raised suspicions about the competition. "No, it's perfectly legitimate; the wordsearch ads are on Channel 4 and Sky TV..." I told her that didn't hold much weight for me. "Actually, it does," she countered. The conversation ended abruptly when I pointed out that even large enterprises can get slapped with fines for deceptive advertising on television.

I recently took part in a competition on the telly, and to my surprise, I received a call informing me that I’d been entered into a £10,000 draw. Along with that, they mentioned sending me some lottery tickets and a puzzle book filled with 25 word searches! The catch? I'd need to fork out £1.95 for shipping. I wasn't too keen on sharing my card details, so I politely declined. The caller reassured me it was absolutely alright and wished me the best of luck, confirming I'd still be in the running for the £10,000 prize.

02039677026 keeps ringing non stop, it’s a woman calling and it’s really annoying. Everyone using this site should report it to the police. If loads of people do, the police might actually pay attention. They need more reports to make a case for action fraud.

Got a call saying I'd won a prize, and my son got one too. He wasn’t interested, but I kinda believed it was legit since it was linked to a TV contest. Foolishly, I went along with it while my son started doubting it. In the end, I fell for it and felt so stupid after. I’ve now spoken to my bank and their fraud department. It's really upsetting, but these nasty folks clearly don’t give a toss and probably won’t get caught. This has been my first and last experience with anything like that. They sure know how to sound convincing - it’s really horrible.

I got a call saying I’d won some sort of prize, and my son got the same call. He wasn’t bothered and let it go but I, naively, believed it must be legit since it was supposedly connected to a TV contest. My son had doubts but I ignored them. Foolishly, I ended up falling for it. After realising something was wrong, I contacted my bank and reported it to their fraud department. It’s quite upsetting but these scammers clearly don’t care and seem untouchable. I swear this is the first and last time I’ll let this happen. They’re so good at sounding genuine, it’s really hateful.

So I got a call saying I’d somehow made it to the final prize draw, and they asked what I’d spend the money on if I won. Then they told me I’d won some kind of quiz book that offers cash prizes, but I’d have to cough up £1.99 for Royal Mail delivery first. I just hung up straight away and blocked the number.

Just like loads of other people have said, a bloke gave my girlfriend a ring and charmed her a bit. He said she’d likely win some wordsearch contest but needed to buy a book for £1.95 first. Then he tried to get her bank info. I told her straight away not to share any card info over the phone and to hang up and block the number. They sound pretty legit but honestly, it’s all dodgy, so watch out!

Got a call from this number but it just cut off. I tried calling back and they kept dropping the call. Eventually, I got put on hold and then someone shouted down the phone, "hello," but I couldn’t understand a word after that, just random noises and something about a winner. Pretty obvious scam, best to just ignore it. No idea how they’re still allowed to do this!

Got a call today telling me I’d reached the final round of some word search contest, with the final draw scheduled for January. They said I’d also won a free word search book but had to pay £1.99 for postage. When they asked for my card details, I refused and asked for their Companies House registration number. They gave it but said they’d confirm it and call back. I told them I wasn’t bothered what Companies House showed - I’m not giving out my card info over the phone. Definitely planning to block that number now.

Today this number called my girlfriend saying she’d got through to the last stage of some draw to win £9,000. They mentioned she’d get a free book but would need to cover the postage, which was something like £1.99. She told them to call back later since she wasn’t ready to share her card info yet.

WARNING: EXTREMELY SUSPICIOUS... GOT A CALL SAYING I WON £9,500 IN A WORD SEARCH COMPETITION! THEY KEPT ASKING FOR MY CREDIT CARD TO 'TRANSFER' THE CASH TO MY ACCOUNT. NO WAY AM I GIVING CARD INFO FOR SOME RANDOM PRIZE. I MIGHT USE A BANK CARD SOMEDAY, BUT DEFINITELY NOT FOR THIS. THEN THEY STARTED PUSHING TO SEND ME WORD SEARCH BOOKS, COSTING £1.95 POSTAGE AND PACKING, ON TOP OF THE PRIZE MONEY. KEPT DEMANDING MY CARD DETAILS, WOULDN'T TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER UNTIL I SAID FINE, JUST SEND ME A CHEQUE. KEEP AWAY FROM THIS, REALLY FELT LIKE A SCAM.

My 86 year old mum got a phone call from some bloke saying she'd made it to the final round of a tv competition. He even tried to sell her a quiz book, saying postage was just £1.95. Mum told him she'd check with me first. What really winds me up is that she'd genuinely entered a competition recently and answered "sunflower" as the question. She can't even recall if it was on itv or channel 4. I’m properly annoyed that the TV company didn’t keep the details of people who took part secure.

This number 02039677026 called me saying I was in the last round of some ITV competition with a prize of £9,500. They told me I’d won a couple of weeks of free word search puzzles, all I had to do was cover the delivery fee, which was £1.50. If this is some sort of scam, I honestly pity the older people or anyone vulnerable who might fall for it, getting their hopes up like that.
