Got a bunch of calls just like this - trying to sell me a cheaper warranty for stuff around the house that I don’t even have a warranty on. Yesterday it was about the TV, today it was the washing machine. Really pushy - said I supposedly bought the warranty a couple years back. Doubtful, since I’d have seen a direct debit out of my account if that were true. Didn’t want to give up, kept claiming I did have the warranty and kept calling me ‘love’ - not really in the mood for being patronised while they waste my time. Ended the call.

It’s a scam. Make sure you report any scam calls straight to the police so they can handle it. There's a system in place that makes it pretty simple. Earlier today, I received a phone call from someone who abruptly hung up on me while in the middle of a sentence. They informed me that I had been paying the incorrect band of council tax. After a lengthy conversation, they inquired about the number of rooms in my home, and as a result, it seems that I am entitled to a rebate of over £3000. I asked why this mistake happened, and they explained that it occurred during the transition from poll tax to council tax. When I asked if they could send me the necessary paperwork in large print, they responded by suggesting that I should purchase a magnifier. Additionally, when I brought up the topic of hospitals, they presented two options: either to hire a solicitor or have them handle it for me. In response, I stated that I wouldn't pay anything to a voice on the phone. They then mentioned something about Band E being higher and told me that they were feeling confused as it had been a very long day for them.

This person kept saying I’d previously bought extra protection to stop nuisance calls, which isn’t true at all. She was really pushy trying to get me to pay for this service, which sounds suspicious to me like a trick to grab my info through my laptop for direct debit or personal details. I explained I already use a free BT service to block calls, but she just kept insisting I’d paid for something extra three years ago. I told her that’s rubbish and asked her not to call again. I was surprisingly polite this time.

they asked for £1.50 a month to stop scam calls from places like the Philippines, India and Pakistan. my mum wasnt too sure about it but she asked if we had family in those countries. she told them she already has tel phone preferences which is free, then they said that only works for calls from the UK.

They called me about some washing machine insurance or something. I don't have insurance for my washer at all, and when I asked them which model they meant, they just started calling me a “rude cow”. Proper rude behaviour!

Said she was from the telephone preference service offering some new gadget to stop scam calls coming from overseas. Very convincing, sounded like an elderly British lady instead of the usual Indian bloke called Joe. Everything seemed okay until she asked for my bank card info - then I got suspicious!

They mentioned I had to pay for extra call blocking on our phone line. I told them my husband’s name isn’t on the phone contract, so that couldn’t be true. They kept pushing and even gave the last four digits of his debit card. I looked up the number here and realised it’s a scam. We’ve also informed our bank about it.

Got a call from a woman with an English accent claiming she was from some scam call prevention group. She said I had to pay 96p every week to stop these calls coming from overseas. I asked her what the company was called, but she just ended the call.

My elderly mother keeps receiving calls from this particular number, despite repeatedly expressing her disinterest and asking them to stop calling (they seem to disregard the GDPR legislation completely). It is simply unacceptable that these numbers continue to harass the elderly, causing undue stress and confusion.

I received a phone call two days ago from a woman who claimed I was eligible for a council tax rebate. I ended the call abruptly. Today, the same number attempted to reach me again.

This was something I hadn’t come across before. They told me I was in the wrong band for the council tax and that I was owed money back. I told them I’d been living at my address for over 40 years, so asked which band I was really meant to be in, then the call just cut off. To me, it’s clear they’re just trying to get info to scam people out of their money.

Got a call from a lady telling me my Council Tax band was incorrect. She claimed it wasn’t a big deal but might save me some cash. When I asked why the number wasn’t local, she said she was calling from the London office! Then she called me “rude” just because I dared to ask and promptly hung up. Definitely a SCAM, stay clear!

Some woman rang me saying she was from HMRC and that I'd overpaid council tax, and she could get the money back for me. Said I'd need a surveyor’s report or something. Heard kids playing in the background, felt really dodgy, didn’t sound professional at all. Total SCAM, be careful folks!

Got a phone call saying my Council Tax was calculated wrong and they’re gonna lower it. They wanted to know how long I’ve lived at the property. Then said my band is C but should actually be B. Offered to sort it out for £150 or I could get an expensive surveyor myself. I asked who they were and how I could verify them, then she just hung up straight away.

Got a call from a lady saying she could lower my council tax because apparently we were put in the wrong band when the poll tax switched to council tax back in 1993! She offered to help us claim some money back, said at the start she was from the council and they were reviewing all the bands to give refunds. But when I asked who she really worked for, she said some independent claims firm. I just ended the call there.

Got a call from this number saying they could lower my council tax band. They obviously don’t know what they’re on about since I’m already at the lowest band. They were quite polite but it definitely felt like a scam or some kinda phishing attempt.
