I've come across a rather dubious scheme involving fraudulent washing machine warranties. It seems to be a right con where folks are being tricked into paying for non-existent coverage.

I noticed that when I dialled 02038399957, it took a bit of time for someone to pick up. When I greeted them, it turned out to be an Indian voice on the line, but as soon as I spoke, they abruptly ended the call after hearing my accent. It’s been unusually peaceful on my landline since then, perhaps news has spread that this number reacts with a whistle.
