Pretty sure it’s just another one of those dodgy numbers these Indian scammers use to trick folks into handing over cash. I told them nicely to buzz off and stop ringing me.

I encountered a dodgy operation posing as Google My Business the other day. At first, it all seemed quite legitimate, guiding me through a plausible procedure. However, it soon turned suspicious as they attempted to coax me into clicking on a link. I wisely chose to halt any further engagement at that point.

I got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, saying something about my business’s Google listing. He wanted me to log into my Google account on my computer, but when I said I don’t have one, he told me it would be alright to do it on my phone instead. I didn’t go through with it, but now he’s ringing back at half four, and after reading other people’s experiences, I’m definitely not picking up.

I said I’d do it myself, no need for him to be there, but he kept insisting. Eventually, I told him to send me an email with his request because I never share business info over the phone, especially with strangers from abroad and definitely not outside usual working hours. He didn’t give up, so I just said something felt off, like a dodgy setup, and ended the call!

When I do catch a moment, there's this automated message that claims “we’re not trying to sell you anything... we’re from Google and need to discuss your account. Expect us to ring you again.” I’ve attempted to ring back, but my calls won’t go through. The area code suggests it’s not local to London either. He must've found my number and business name from my website. The number looked like it was from London, but it was a scam for sure. He even kicked off with "This call may be recorded for training" to sound legit. I just blocked him straight away. Total con artist!

I've been bombarded with numerous calls from this particular number. Every single time I pick up, I'm met with a pre-recorded voice message saying they'll ring me back. To my knowledge, not once has a real person ever followed up as promised. (I’m on a switchboard that forwards calls when I'm not in the vicinity.) Regardless of whether they intend to return the call, that automated message is purely pointless and just adds to the frustration. If they're operating on an auto-dial system and there's no one available to speak, they ought to simply disconnect the line!

so this call came through and you could totally hear a lot of background noise like a call centre or something. the person was pretending to be from google and trying to chat about linking to my website. i just told them to jog on, no way. I’ve got a note9 and it actually flagged the call as "possible scam". they keep ringing me about every week now, really annoying.

Got a call from someone with a heavy Indian accent who said he’d guide me through sorting out a Google listing while staying on the line.
