Got a call from someone with an Asian accent about renewing my O2 contract. Told him I’d already sorted it a few hours ago, so he backed off. Still, I’m wondering how on earth he managed to get hold of O2 customers’ details like that?

There was this bloke, sounded asian and had a pretty thick accent, sounded like he was in some kind of chatroom or something. Asked, “Can I speak to Mr xxxxxx?” I said, “That’s me, what do you want?” He goes on, “I’m calling about your O2 phone contract, number (gave it), you need to renew it.” I told him straight up, “Save us both some time - I just renewed and upgraded my phone with O2.” Then he just cut off the call - how cheeky is that! Blocked the number straightaway.

Someone rang me saying they were from a charity and asked if I wanted to give a donation. I told them no and hung up straight away. It’s not that I wouldn’t give, it’s just I don’t trust doing it over the phone or online - too worried it might be a con. I prefer putting my money into local charities instead.

I've been getting calls from this number almost daily, usually at times that are way too early or late. When I finally picked up, I told the guy on the line that whoever they wanted doesn’t live here anymore. He said sorry and assured me they'd remove my number from their records and would stop calling.
