How on earth did they get hold of my number if I’m ex-directory? I phoned the number back a few hours later and it did ring, but nobody picked up. I’ve blocked the number now, fingers crossed it’ll put an end to this scam. It can’t be anything else, surely.

At first it was just silence, so I’m guessing an automated dialling system. Then I barely caught a quiet voice with an Indian accent, and someone else began speaking softly too. Definitely sounded like a call centre. I didn’t catch the business name, but he might have called me by my first name - probably got it from some spam database. He asked if I was interested in getting a website made. I told him I actually design websites myself and then he just ended the call.

Did a Google search for IGM web developers and found nothing at all. Told them to take my number off their list. They have rung me up seven times now. Every time I ask them to remove my number and then block whoever’s calling. But then they ring from a different number, so I block that too. And it keeps happening again and again.

Somehow my details, both my name and number, got into the wrong hands. I’m pretty careful about who I share my phone number with, so it’s clear someone’s gone and shared it without any regard for GDPR rules. This needs sorting out to find out who’s leaking people’s info like this. When I got the call, the lady on the other end didn’t seem keen on talking and just ended the call quickly. She had quite an Asian accent and was trying to sell some kind of website services.
