On the 17th of May, 2019, I had an encounter with a bloke who claimed to be representing R & A regarding some white goods. I must admit, I felt he was just frittering away my time, and things got a bit heated when he took umbrage at my assertion. In hindsight, it probably would have been wiser to keep my mouth shut, but I couldn’t help but call him a complete waste of space. In a fit of anger, he parroted my words back to me, declaring, "And I am, am I?" Then he went on to recite my address, ominously stating he’d be sending someone over. Then, without a word, he abruptly cut the line. It was all very odd, to say the least!

Just a heads up: If you get a ring from someone saying there’s been dodgy stuff on your bank account and throwing around big amounts, you probably shouldn’t give them any info. Best thing to do is hang up. But don’t call your bank back on the same phone straight away - those scammers might still be listening. If you can, use a different phone line to ring your bank, like using your mobile if they called your landline, or the other way round.

I received a call from an anonymous number today. The bloke refused to share his name or the company he represented, claiming I was on the verge of losing my property. It’s clearly just some sort of scam or a prank call, nothing more!

Got a call from this number earlier. The guy sounded pretty young with a British accent. Said something about my washing machine warranty expiring or about to expire. I’m sure it ended ages ago. I told him I’d handle it myself. Also got a call from a number kinda like this yesterday afternoon (020 3966 4628). A woman with a strange accent, not really clear what she was saying, lots of static on the line. I just told her I wasn’t interested.

I've received calls from the number 02034768204 on two occasions just this week, not to mention several other times in the past. I did engage in a conversation with a chap who claimed the warranty for my Zanussi washing machine had lapsed. He insisted they obtained my contact details from Zanussi, which I found rather odd, considering I’ve never had any dealings with them and don’t own a washing machine at all! The fellow identified himself as being with Repair and Assure Ltd, but abruptly hung up on me mid-sentence. Clearly, this is a dodgy operation.

Had two calls from this number today - got curious about the second one so looked it up and saw all the other comments! There was loud music in the background and a lady talking but I couldn't really catch what she said, so I just told her she had the wrong number. Happy I didn’t hang around and get frustrated. I hardly ever pick up nowadays, just let it go to voicemail, any proper caller will leave a message anyway.

Got a call today saying my washing machine warranty expired and asked if I wanted to renew it. Thing is, I never had one since I bought the machine second hand. Told them that straight away and asked them to cancel. They still took my card details and charged me but no actual warranty was ever renewed.

My wife passed me a call from someone called "Darren" claiming our washing machine insurance was about to expire, trying to sell a "discounted" renewal. I told him I'd look into it and call back. When I dug out our actual papers, we’d already paid way less than the £75 he mentioned. Pretty clear it was a con. They mainly go after older folks and those who might be less savvy, so sites like this are really useful.

Been getting loads of calls from this number on and off the last week or so. Pretty sure BT must be blocking it for people with Call Protect cos I don't recall any chats about washing machine cover. Had a run-in with them before and it's a total rip-off - they just want your cash supposedly to cover your Hotpoint or whatnot. Nah, don’t buy it. They’re just after easy marks. Best to ignore.

Got a call from a woman with a rough voice, sounded like she was in a busy call centre, about my Hotpoint or Indesit washing machine. Told her I don’t own one at all. She then wanted to know what brand I did have, but I told her that wasn’t something she needed to know. She just hung up after that. Definitely seemed like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone who called me by the wrong name and told me my washing machine needed fixing even though it doesn’t and they even mixed up the brand. I can see how they might trick older or more vulnerable folks into worrying or getting scammed.

My mum got a call from this number about some washing machine insurance, and it upset her so much she ended up crying. We’ve just lost someone close to us, so this was really uncalled for and very hurtful.

Got a call earlier from someone telling me my Indesit washing machine had stopped working. Thing is, I don’t own an Indesit, and my washer’s barely two months old. Pretty sure it’s a total scam.
