Just block 'em. These scammers use some kind of bot that automatically grabs numbers from sites like eBay, Gumtree, or social media and sends them to call centres in India. They then ring you up trying to pull scams about car accidents or similar nonsense. Normally they’ll ring you about three times really close together, often from different UK-looking numbers that are clearly fake. If you notice your phone buzzing just minutes after you put your number online, don’t pick up - just block straight away!

Got a call claiming to be from Carphone Warehouse (or some name like that) offering a phone upgrade. They asked loads of the typical stuff, like what phone I had and who my provider was, then what new phone I was interested in. It seemed like a classic scam to get you to buy a new phone through them. You can have a bit of fun with them if you fancy, but I’d just hang up. Whatever you do, don’t buy anything from those lot.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming he was calling on behalf of Carphone Warehouse. The funny thing is, I've never used Carphone Warehouse before, so how did he even get hold of my number? He tried to find out what phone I use, but I told him it’s none of his business and insisted he take me off his list and never ring me again. The robotic tone they use reminds me of those automated translations, rather off-putting and rather daft if I’m honest. Best to save your time-just block the number and move on.
