I keep getting calls from these HF### people about renewing some home insurance every single week, like 7 or 8 times at least. They’re always trying to get my bank details or something dodgy. Honestly, by 2021, with all the tech we have, you'd think there'd be a way to block these annoying scammers altogether. It’s so frustrating that they’re still allowed to pester us like this.

I got a call from some bloke at Domestic and General about renewing my insurance for Sky TV. Problem is, I don’t even have Sky! He then asked for my bank info to set up this year’s discounted payment. Not sure he’s going to get that from me anytime soon.

Got a call saying my warranty was up, but they wouldn’t tell me what gadget they meant. They did have my real name, but the person was really forceful and didn’t accept a no whatsoever. Ended up hanging up and blocking the number straight away.

someone rang from a company called “service homecare” and asked for me by my first name. when i asked how they got my number, they said i’d given it to the appliance maker, though they didn’t say which one. they said they offer service plans for appliances. as soon as i told them we hadn’t got a contract with them and that my number is on the tps list, they hung up.

So I got a call about some kind of appliance insurance. They had my correct name and address, but when I asked which appliance was covered, they couldn't say because there wasn't any actually insured. Total scam, be careful and don’t get caught out!

Got a call from some bloke with an asian accent who said his name was Simon and he was from "Accompany Domestic Appliances." Like who do they think they’re fooling? He tried to check my warranty for my washing machine and fridge freezer. I told him I didn’t have any warranty and he couldn’t even tell me how much I supposedly paid or when I would’ve bought the cover. Feels a bit dodgy if you ask me.

Got one of those typical appliance scam calls today. Told the bloke to buzz off and asked him if he was auditioning for some TV show or why he hadn’t found a real job instead. Honestly, I'm fed up with these lot. If we can’t sort them out in 2021, well, it's just a disgrace - as we say up north. By the time I hung up or maybe switched the phone, I reckon he was still on the line taking the mick.

Got a call from a woman with an Eastern European accent about some home appliance insurance we apparently have. We told her we don’t, but she kept insisting that we did. Eventually, she just hung up on us.

On 29 April 2021, just after 11 in the morning, I got a call from a bloke who said he was ringing about an insurance warranty for a cooker, fridge, and washing machine. He claimed to be from Domestic Appliances London and told me I’d been paying for this cover for seven years - which is completely untrue. He knew my husband’s name, our address, and postcode, and insisted the last payment was made in April 2019 covering two years. When I questioned him, he got quite rude and wouldn’t tell me his name or connect me with his manager.

The number shows up exactly as 01273977504 on my caller ID. The people on the line said they were from Domestic Appliances, but I can’t find any legit company by that name anywhere. They gave the same number for contact which seemed fishy. They came across as quite professional but then asked for my card info, including the CVV on the back - which no genuine business would ever request! If you’re pushed, just give them made-up card details. They also might follow up with emails or calls pretending to be from PayPal asking to update your payment details. Be super cautious with any call or message claiming to be PayPal, 99% of the time it’s a scam.

I received a call from 02033322943 on 29th April 2021 at about 12:38, from a bloke who sounded Asian. There was a lot of chatter in the background, like people shouting into phones. He mentioned he was calling from Domestic and General and said my kitchen appliance insurance had expired and needed renewal. I got suspicious straight away and asked which appliances he meant. He kept saying ‘kitchen appliances’, then finally said fridge and washing machine. Every time I probed with questions, he sounded more annoyed. Eventually, I told him I wasn’t interested, and he just hung up rudely. I’m sure it was a scam because: (1) I’m with BT and my number isn’t visible, (2) all my appliances are ancient and only covered by original warranties, no insurance ever, (3) the background noise was chaos, nothing like a real call centre, (4) the irritation from the caller felt unprofessional, no legit call centre staff act like that, and (5) the caller was Asian-accented, and it seems most scam calls I get are from Asian sounding people - shame, because that gives a bad rep to honest folks. One thing though - how do I know this reverse phone lookup site you’re running isn’t a scam too? Just wondering.
