I received a rather dubious call from a gentleman sporting an Indian accent, who claimed that my internet connection had been compromised and was in a rather insecure state. When I inquired about his employer, he stated he represented BT. Curious, I asked for his contact number, to which he provided 02032899604. However, after dialling 1471, the number I noted was 01484968128. It’s evident this is nothing but a scam. Best to steer clear and not return the call!

A mate of mine received a staggering 15 calls from this number, claiming to represent TalkTalk. The poor soul was an elderly woman who had recently lost her partner, making it rather tricky to ascertain the full situation. It appears some dodgy software was somehow loaded onto her Android tablet. Honestly, I can't stress enough: never, under any circumstances, download anything from a cold caller!

Recently, I received a rather alarming phone call from a gentleman identifying himself as David Miller, claiming to represent BT. He informed me that my tablet had allegedly been compromised and instructed me to head over to Tesco to purchase three gift cards, each costing a hundred quid, assuring me that I would be reimbursed post-purchase. I must admit, I was quite taken aback and nearly believed his story, but luckily my wife stepped in to put a stop to it. The man went on about disconnecting my service and even suggested that I could end up blacklisted. Please be cautious, everyone!

I got a call from a bloke with an accent I couldn’t place, he called himself Alan Wendel and claimed to be from Sky’s Tech Support. He said there was some fault with my broadband and if it wasn’t sorted, my internet would cut out. He asked me to get on my PC to sort it for him. I’m no expert with computers, so I requested his name and a contact number to call him back later. He gave me this number he said to ring. It all sounded pretty convincing, but after reading these comments, I’m thinking it was a scam.

I had quite the similar experience not long ago... it was a woman named Jennifer on the other end. She rang me up, saying there was an issue with my broadband that would lead to a disconnection. I thanked her for the heads up and promptly ended the call. After that, I decided to look up the number, and lo and behold, I stumbled upon a host of comments regarding BT scams. I received a rather concerning call from someone named Alex. They've given me half an hour to sort out an issue that supposedly might lead to my internet being cut off. Today, I received a rather dubious call from a woman named Kristina, claiming that my internet was set to be disconnected. She alleged she was representing BT. I was quite blunt with her, stating that it sounded like a scam and requested she refrain from calling again since this number is dedicated to an elderly residence, and any issues with BT are managed by family members. Received a rather dubious call today from someone claiming to be from BT, announcing that my internet was about to be cut off. I've received this call on two occasions now, and on the second call, I decided to engage with them. They directed me to BT.com, urging me to enter 'teamviewer' for them to remotely access my computer. It's truly alarming how easily someone could be duped, given that it appears to be a legitimate BT webpage. Quite crafty, I must say! When I inquired about the number, the caller insisted he was with BT. Clearly a ruse! If they happen to ring me again, I think I'll simply place the call on hold and waste their time!

Had a chap ring me up, asserting that he was from BT, regarding our internet security and some purportedly dodgy dealings. He wanted me to alter settings on the router. I requested a contact number to ring back, and blow me down, he called again, pressuring me to say when I'd return his call. A bit of digging revealed this was nothing but a scam, which I suspected all along. I just received a telephone call from this number, with a bloke named Jason on the line claiming to be from BT. He insisted that there was someone misusing my internet connection unlawfully. The audacity! He said I’d have to access my computer so he could "right in front of my eyes" stop these rogue users, or else face a broadband suspension for an entire month. It was obvious to me from the get-go that this was a scam, even though he had my address details-which, let’s face it, can easily be found on the electoral roll. I told "Jason" to ring me back in ten minutes. I then contacted BT to alert them, and they confirmed they’d received a spate of similar reports that very day. To my surprise, the cheeky chap did call me back, and I confronted him, making it crystal clear that I recognised his scam. Yet, even then, he feigned ignorance!

Received a rather dodgy call purporting to be from BT, warning me that my internet would be cut off imminently, within a mere two hours! The twist is, I had an Openreach technician over just the day prior to sort out a fault with my line, which made it all the more perplexing. When I requested my BT account number, they provided me with a nonsensical jumble of digits. I then asked for verification that they were indeed from BT, but instead they dropped a number for me to ring back-01032899604-claiming I needed to confirm my identity! Naturally, I hung up and contacted BT directly to verify what was happening, and surprise, surprise, they hadn’t reached out to me at all. The initial call came from 01398524762, which is already flagged as a known scam. Dodgy business!

I recently received a call from someone named 'Robin Watson'-a rather curious name if you ask me-using the number 01398524762. He claimed to be a technical advisor from BT, offering to help me download software from www.teamviewer.com to supposedly prevent malicious spyware from infecting my computer. Truth be told, it felt like he was angling to seize control of my device and access personal information instead. The call came through my landline, and I've since discovered from BT that similar scams are currently targeting the 01235 area, so do take care. He provided the aforementioned number, suggesting I call it back to verify his identity as a bona fide BT engineer. Instead of doing that, I opted to do a quick Google search while he was still on the line, which led me straight to this site and several warnings. I promptly hung up!

I just got a phone call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming his name was Alex Smith. He said he was ringing from BT and warned me my internet would stop working in a week because of some problems with their servers. I told him I’m not even a BT customer and suspected it was a scam. He tried to connect me to his supervisor but I refused. At one point he mentioned a licence ID or something, it was 888DCA60. Seemed dodgy to me.

Got a call from a guy named Kelvin, sounded Indian, claiming he worked for BT. He said someone was trying to hack into my computer through BT Broadband and needed to fix it. I tried to buy some time by asking for our IP address and then asked him to give me a number so I could call him later. He gave me this number, but when I looked it up with 1471, it came up as 01398 524762, so something doesn’t add up.

This weird guy called me saying his name was Alvin Gabriell and that viruses had been found on my internet, and that it would be turned off for a couple of days. I wasn’t convinced at all and asked for proof, he gave me a number to ring back on along with some kind of employee ID. When I googled that number, I found loads of people saying they’d had the same call from someone with that name. The number shown on my phone when he called was totally different though (01398 724762). No way am I calling that back - totally sounded like a scam to me.

I received a rather troubling phone call from this number, claiming to be from my internet provider. They insisted that my router was compromised with malware and ominously stated that they’d need to suspend my internet for three weeks to sort it out. They sounded so believable, even passing me over to a so-called 'senior supervisor' to validate their story. Thankfully, I chose to hang up and contact my provider directly, who assured me it was nothing more than a scam.

I told the bloke to put the phone down and maybe listen to something smarter than the rubbish he was spouting. He immaturely accused me of calling him a liar before abruptly ending the call. Just like others have said, there was an insane amount of noise from other people in the background. I asked for his number and was pretty shocked when he actually told me one. So, I rang 1471 to see who it was but got a "no number left" message. That’s why I ended up coming here to double-check and make sure something wasn’t off.

I received a rather suspicious phone call earlier today, purporting to be from the BT customer service team. Today I got a call from someone claiming to be a BT advisor, a woman named Christa William who had an Indian accent. She said they needed to install some software to fix internet issues. Thing is, we hadn’t had any problems at all - I was online just fine earlier. My mum picked up the phone and she’s not really tech-savvy, doesn’t even know how to switch on the computer, but she wrote down the number. That number’s the one I searched for here. Honestly, I wouldn’t trust anyone calling saying they’re from BT.

This bloke said he was John Parker from BT’s tech support saying my internet service was at risk. Totally dodgy. I 1471’d the phone number he called from, which showed as 02922 40 40 870. He didn’t really sound like a John, more like someone from India or nearby. When I mentioned "porky pies" to call him out on his stories, he didn’t get the phrase at all. Once I explained it means telling lies, he just cut the call straight away!

Received calls from this number thrice today. When I asked for a callback number to verify if they were indeed BT, I mentioned that it seemed like a scam. The caller, however, was incredibly insistent, claiming to have details like my name and address. He hinted that there was some sort of unlawful activity linked to our IP address, and that we were apparently being hacked, threatening that our connection might be suspended for a month. Apparently, if they weren't sorted, we might find ourselves without internet access for an extended period. We got to the stage where he inquired about the lights displayed on our router, but I opted to tell him I’d call back later. I got a call from a lady with a West Indian accent claiming she was from BT and said my internet was hacked.
