They won’t stop ringing and get worse with threats each time. Best way to handle it - grab an air horn from somewhere like Screwfix (cost me around £12) and blast it as soon as they start with the swearing or threats. No point being nice with these lot. They’re total scammers. While you’re stuck arguing, others are getting tricked into ‘consolidating’ their debts into one monthly payment, but the money never makes it to the actual creditors.

They claimed I had unsecured debt recorded against me. Since I don’t have any personal loans or credit card debts, I asked where they got that info from. He said I was on some government list of debtors. When he called, I was in my office and there were people chatting nearby. Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent who said he was Gary Trueman, supposedly from the Financial Ombudsman. I told him straight up that the Ombudsman wouldn’t ring to tell you about any new debt recovery deal, and after that he just acted like he couldn’t hear me anymore. Some bloke with an Indian accent called himself Neil and claimed to be from '[Something] Investigations'. He told me that my creditors had given him details about some debts I supposedly owed and was supposedly paying off. I asked him repeatedly who my creditors were - like four times - but he kept dodging the question and then just hung up on me. I don’t have any debts at all. This is total rubbish and clearly a scam.
