I've received two calls from this number today. The first call got cut off the moment I answered, so I decided to check it via 1471. Then, during the second call, I was treated to a rather garbled automated message from a woman claiming to be with HM Revenue & Customs, demanding that I ring back urgently to avoid any potential legal repercussions. Needless to say, I dismissed it outright, as I have nothing to be concerned about with HMRC. It's quite unsettling, especially for those who might be more vulnerable, like the elderly. Just be cautious and spread the word!

My mum-in-law, who is 88 and battling cancer and heart issues, got a call from this number. The bloke on the other end told her she owed HMRC taxes from way back in 1985, trying to scare her. When she started upset, he actually asked why she was crying. They've called her five times today alone. What disgusting people. Make sure all your elderly family members know about this con.

Received an automated voicemail purporting to be from a government agency, ominously warning of potential legal consequences should I neglect to return their call. What’s more, once the message concluded, my phone got stuck on 1471 for a good few minutes, which left me unable to dial my own mobile to verify whether the initial call had actually disconnected. Got a call from this number today, and just like before, the message was all about taking legal action - really freaked me out. Got two calls from this lot claiming I’m in debt for thousands! Told me they’d confiscate my stuff and cancel my passport. Problem is, I’m overseas right now, got a Bentley parked outside, and absolutely need my passport to get home. Had me worried for a bit, gotta admit. A mate of mine got a call from this number saying he’s going to be arrested by HMRC for some fraud and to ring back ASAP to fix it. This has to be stopped, it’s just awful! Had a call from someone named Alex Mahoney, who really stressed me out saying there was a warrant for my arrest. I ended up yelling at him when he rudely told me to "shut up." He claimed I hadn’t paid taxes for six years and demanded I visit a court in London to sort it out. He wouldn’t provide any details or send proof unless I paid up straight away. Honestly, it frightened me so much I nearly broke down. BE WARNED, THIS NUMBER IS NOT TO TRUST.
