I received a badly recorded message from a woman claiming to be from HMRC, talking about legal trouble. Worried, I called the number back and a man answered, insisting it was HMRC and asked for my solicitor’s details. I challenged him and he just said "see you in court" before hanging up. I then contacted HMRC directly, and they told me everything was fine. They recommended I report this to the police via www.actionfraudpolice.uk, which I have done.

Thought it was best to report it since it seemed like a scam. I can imagine how worrying it might be for someone who’s not so certain about it.

I received a call yesterday from someone claiming to be from HMRC. I hung up immediately and then decided to contact the Inland Revenue myself. I would recommend others do the same and report such calls, as they could be scams.

I'm choosing to disregard it altogether, as I suspect they’re either fishing for my banking details or trying to rack up an extortionate phone bill. Best to stay clear of that, I reckon!

Received a call from 01322 750 780 and the voice sounded like some awful robot woman, super glitchy too. They claimed to be from HMRC and said I’m under investigation for serious fraud. Since about 10 this morning, they've kept ringing me every hour. I didn’t pick up after the first time, but they still keep leaving that same message on my voicemail - can't seem to get away from it! Just filed a complaint with the ICO about this nonsense.

I’ve had multiple calls from this number. When I finally decided to ring them back today, they claimed I owed £5,282.00. I told them I’d check with my accountant and then they hung up on me. It really shook me up a bit!

I got a voicemail about some legal stuff, but the recording was really hard to make out. When I rang back, this bloke answered with a really strong accent, sounded like maybe from the Philippines or somewhere in South East Asia. He was using caller ID so he obviously had my details and started telling me I had a warrant out for fraud and dodging taxes. I told him that leaving threatening messages on voicemail in the UK is illegal, then he just hung up on me.

Just like others have mentioned, I got a call from a number ending in 874 too. They were telling me there was some legal issue linked to HMRC. The call quality was awful and felt really dodgy. Why can't they just send an official letter for something so important? Legal problems should come through proper mail, not some scratchy, suspicious voicemail. This nonsense with fake calls and scammers is getting out of hand. Authorities really need to step up and put a stop to this rubbish asap.

Got a call from 02031 296983 and the voicemail was so blurry, I could barely hear anything. The only bits that stood out were something about a very sensitive issue.
