Got a weird voicemail from some number, so I rang back. A bloke picked up - definitely not an overseas call - and said he was from HMRC, the inland revenue. I told him straight up it’s a scam and ended the call. Remember, HMRC don’t call you outta the blue like that.

Today I got a call from what sounded like the HMRC but it was clear pretty quick it was a scam, so I just ended the call. It's mad that these frauds still get through - honestly, the police ought to be chasing these guys. If a number keeps popping up as a scam caller, phone networks should block it straight away. They've been pretty relentless, calling me loads. On the first day I got four calls and a voicemail. Next day, there were two messages and one left on the machine again. Then on the third day, I had another call plus a message on the answerphone. I haven’t bothered to listen or respond to any of it.

My elderly mum and dad got a call from a lady who spoke really clearly, saying they’d be getting a court summons. She actually called twice, probably ‘cause my dad struggles with hearing and he’s 84, so it really stressed him out. He doesn’t owe anyone a penny, so we were both proper worried. This week my mother-in-law, who’s 86, got called eight times by a recorded message pretending to be "HMRC", threatening legal action unless she or her lawyer rings back immediately. She was really worried and quite shaken up, but luckily she thought to check with me first. I called the number myself to complain - shout out to the folks on WhoCallsMe for warning me that the number looked dodgy. The bloke who answered was shockingly rude, making crude remarks about what I should do to a certain part of his body. Utterly appalling behaviour.

I got two calls from someone called Mr Ridley who said he was from the Inland Revenue, he was ringing me from Gateshead, Tyne & Wear. He told me if I didn’t call the number he gave I'd face legal trouble. I never bothered to ring back.
