Bit unusual this time - some bloke with an Asian accent rang me, saying he was from BT and that my computer had a virus, and he could help sort it out. Definitely felt like a scam! When I asked for a number to ring him back, he gave me this one. Trouble is, 1471 didn't show any number for the last call.

02031295984 Automated female voice. Implied warning about legal action if I dont pick up in time. Plan to report this to the proper police authorities.

Got a call from a lady claiming to be from HMRC, but it was obviously a recorded message. She was threatening legal trouble if I didn’t ring back quickly. I’m guessing the number must be premium rate, otherwise why bother calling at all? Sadly, it’s probably the older or more vulnerable folks who get caught out and that could lead to big problems for them.

The phone call I received appeared to be quite serious and instructed me to call the number provided. I immediately contacted the police to report the potential fraud. They assured me that I should disregard any messages indicating legal action against me, but they did make a note of the message. Being an elderly widow, this situation could have caused me significant distress!

I had a similar encounter as mentioned earlier, but the voice recording sounded very much like someone from the affluent English home counties. Perhaps they have realized that people find it hard to believe when an American accent is talking about the HMRC. However, they might have gone overboard with it because the lady's soft-spoken manner made it almost impossible to understand her!

I encountered the same person as well, and when I confronted him, he abruptly ended the call. Undeterred, I called him back, and although he recognized my voice, I issued another challenge. Unfortunately, Mr. Smith lacks a lot of patience. Persistently, I continued calling him repeatedly, much to my satisfaction! He must regret ever dialing my landline number. (By the way, I utilized different phone numbers when calling him back.) Perhaps I should establish a deceitful line to charge them £200 each time they answer the call! Would that be considered illegal?

Got a weird, jumbled voicemail threatening legal action if you dont get back to them. Sounded really creepy so I ignored it. Could really scare old folks or people who might be vulnerable.

My missus got a call from someone threatening court and the police knocking on our door. Lucky I got home while she was still on the phone, poor girl was nearly in tears. I told him where to go and he quickly ended the call. These sorts of calls really need to be stopped. It’s dangerous for folk who are easily scared. HMRC usually only contact through letters, never by phone.

I’ve gone ahead and let BT know, just in case I got charged for ringing that number back (bit daft of me really). They said to wait for my next bill and if there’s a charge, ring 150 and they’ll sort a refund out.

I recently received a call where someone threatened me with legal action for "tax evasion." I politely responded by asking them if they really thought I was foolish enough to fall for such a scheme. Then, I quickly ended the call and moved on.

I received two intimidating voicemail messages; one from a female with an American accent, and another from an Indian individual instructing me to call a different number. I can't help but feel angered by these individuals, and believe there is a special place in hell for them. Nonetheless, I find myself questioning why telecom companies aren't taking more action against this issue. It would be beneficial if there was a system in place to report such numbers, leading to their immediate shutdown.

Similarly to the previous situation, since I have caller ID on my landline, I choose to ignore anyone who calls but is not listed in my phonebook. Instead, I let the messaging system handle the call. Today, I have received three calls with the same ominous message, but from three different numbers: 1. 02031295984 2. 0073812905006 3. 00919350257344 All three messages were delivered by an automated system using a female American voice. What caught my attention is that none of the messages mentioned me or my business. It is quite evident that this is a scam.

Sounds like a total scam to me - some robotic voice warned me to ring back or I'd face legal trouble. I ignored it, but I reckon some folks might actually freak out over that kind of threat!

I just had a phone call with my mum. She has recently received a threat of legal action, which is the last thing she needed at this difficult time, as she has recently lost her husband and my dad. The individuals responsible for this should be imprisoned, as the amount of stress they inflict is completely unacceptable.
