This number has been ringing me non-stop and the people on the other end are super pushy and rude. Honestly, they’ve really frightened me. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam, and it just isn’t fair.

I get calls from these lot probably every month or so. I even told them I’m on the TPS register and that what they’re doing’s against the law, asking them to stop calling me, but they keep at it. Usually I just note the number and report it to the TPS, then leave it ringing. Though sometimes, if I’ve got a bit of time to kill, I mess about with them a bit for a laugh.

Got a call earlier from someone claiming I owed HMRC £1800 and said I'd be arrested if I didn’t pay up. It was obviously a scam, so I just ended the call. They didn’t bother ringing back either. I’m planning to contact HMRC directly to sort it out properly.

Got a call from them today (09/08/2017). It was one of those recorded messages, claiming to be from HMRC. The lady sounded really serious, warning me not to ignore it or else I’d face legal trouble. She kept saying it was urgent and that I or my solicitor had to ring back. It was pretty scary at first, but I’m glad this site helped me figure out it was just a con.

This was different from what others have said - the recorded message never said it was HMRC. There was no explanation given either, just a vague warning that the problem was urgent. They told me or my solicitor to ring that number ASAP before legal steps begin. It’s been stressing me out all day. Really makes you wonder why a scammer would ask for a solicitor to get in touch?

It’s not just the elderly they’re going after, seems like they’re just calling everyone. I got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying I’d face legal trouble and to not ignore it. Totally a scam but still pretty unsettling. There really should be stricter rules stopping these sorts of companies from doing this.

Got a call from someone saying they're with HMRC about some tax I supposedly owe. I’d just got back from the doctors after a heart check-up, so the timing was awful. They were threatening legal action over unpaid tax and claimed I ignored a letter sent by registered post in March. I asked for a copy, but they said it was with the Supreme Court in London, which sounded dodgy. Rang HMRC myself and they told me it was a scam. I’ve reported it to both the Police and BT now.

Got a call at 8:15 this morning from a woman’s automated voice. She never mentioned anyone’s name or who the call was for. Got a really scary voicemail saying legal steps would be taken unless she got in touch. It was left on my mum's answerphone - she’s 80 and it’s left her really shaken up. The message didn’t even say who it was for or who was calling. I’m seriously thinking of reaching out to the police about this. I missed the start of the voicemail but it said not to ignore the message and something about a legal matter. They mentioned my solicitor should contact the number given. The caller had a very proper English accent, so it did sound quite believable.
