I get calls from these lot probably every month or so. I even told them I’m on the TPS register and that what they’re doing’s against the law, asking them to stop calling me, but they keep at it. Usually I just note the number and report it to the TPS, then leave it ringing. Though sometimes, if I’ve got a bit of time to kill, I mess about with them a bit for a laugh.

I received a rather alarming call purportedly from HMRC, insisting that I owed tax. I had just come back from the doctor's, dealing with an issue concerning my heart, when this individual started making threats about legal action over alleged unpaid tax. They claimed that I had ignored a letter sent by registered post back in March and, upon my request for a copy, they bizarrely stated that it was currently with the Supreme Court in London! Naturally, I became suspicious and contacted HMRC directly. They confirmed it was a scam. I've taken the next step to report this to BT and the police. Quite unsettling, to say the least!
