I received a rather alarming call from a “Dave Roberts” supposedly working for HMRC, who claimed that I was facing criminal charges for not submitting my tax returns. Now, setting aside a few details-such as the fact that “Dave” had a distinct Eastern European accent, my own tax affairs being in immaculate order, and the sheer absurdity of HMRC actually pursuing criminal charges in such circumstances-he then proceeded to ask for the name of my solicitor. I suggested he send me something in writing, but he insisted that wasn’t an option. Quite humorous, really, considering HMRC still hasn’t adopted email as standard practice! I ended the conversation promptly while he continued to label me a criminal.

I received a rather peculiar call from someone identifying himself as "Dave Roberts" claiming to be from HMRC. He insisted that there were criminal allegations against me for failing to submit my tax returns. Now, let me point out a few absurdities: firstly, "Dave" had a distinctly Eastern European lilt to his voice, secondly, my tax affairs are absolutely in order, and lastly, anyone familiar with HMRC knows that criminal charges don’t just pop up willy-nilly without proper procedure. When this “Dave” requested the name of my solicitor, I suggested he send a letter instead, but of course, he claimed that wasn't an option-how utterly ridiculous, given that HMRC only communicates through written correspondence! I eventually hung up while he carried on about my supposed criminality.

I received a call from someone identifying themselves as “Dave Roberts” from HMRC, claiming that I was facing criminal proceedings for failing to file my tax returns. Firstly, it struck me that this “Dave” had a distinctly Eastern European accent, which set off alarm bells. To put it plainly, my tax affairs are perfectly up to date! Moreover, it’s rather amusing that he seemed unaware that only the most serious tax evasion cases would result in 'criminal' charges. He asked for my solicitor’s details, to which I suggested he send me a letter instead. He insisted that wasn’t an option- which is rather preposterous since HMRC typically communicates in written form. I hung up while he continued to babble on about my supposed criminality.

I received a voicemail today from what sounded like a robotic voice purporting to be from HMRC. Honestly, I couldn't help but chuckle at how amusing it was!

I received a rather peculiar call from this number, where the caller mentioned I should return the call. Out of sheer curiosity, I decided to ring back, and a woman picked up, although she introduced herself with a name that wasn’t the one mentioned in the voicemail, which was supposedly 'Heather'. To my surprise, she answered right away-a rather unlikely occurrence with HMRC, as we all know. This lady’s accent hinted at Indian origins, and she promptly requested my mobile number, which raised an eyebrow since I would expect HMRC to ask for my National Insurance number instead. When I suggested I’d ring back later, her tone shifted dramatically; she became quite confrontational, asking, “Why would you want to call back later?” It all felt rather dodgy, to say the least!

I received a rather peculiar call today from someone purporting to be associated with Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs. They asked for the name of my solicitor, claiming that a lawsuit had been filed against me. When I chuckled at the absurdity of it all, he responded quite sternly, insisting that it was a serious issue and that my local office would be in touch shortly before abruptly hanging up. This was actually the third time they’ve called me today, and I couldn't help but notice that he had a distinct accent, possibly Indian or Pakistani. Quite the strange experience, to say the least!
