Someone called claiming to be from HMRC, saying I owed £6000 and there was an arrest warrant out for me. The number was 02037691089 and another similar one. I rang back and they left me waiting on hold. This happened about an hour ago on 21st June 2018. Definitely need to report this, it’s really frustrating and risky.

Got a recorded voicemail from someone saying they were from HM Revenue and Customs, a Lisa Williams, telling me to ring back straight away or face legal action. The number to call was 02080894397. Then, about an hour later, I got another call with no message from 02080894571, which after a quick look seems connected to the same con. Got a recorded call saying I’m in big trouble for a serious offence and I gotta talk to someone right away because it's urgent. Got a call from an automated voice claiming HMRC had started legal action against me. I called back and some bloke answered, asked for my name and then rattled off loads of warnings about my bank accounts being frozen, my name going in the papers and me being blacklisted. Got an automated call on 29/09/2017 saying HMRC were about to take legal action against me. Straight away I knew it was dodgy since HMRC wouldn’t deal with legal stuff like that over the phone. Got a robocall pretending to be from hmrc sayin I need to get my solicitor to ring an 020 number right away. Said it’s urgent and if I don’t call back they’ll sue me. Just ignore it!!

I got a text sayin I’m bein sued and to call a number or else they’d start legal stuff. I ignored it. Then they phoned me sayin I’m goin to court. Still didn’t reply. The number is 07537183187.

Got the same call this morning around 8.15, but with an international number - it showed as 00100442031296491. The woman on the line said the usual, about some urgent legal issue against me, same old story. I was half asleep since I take quite a few strong meds before bed, so luckily I wasn’t fully alert. Honestly, if I’d pressed 1, they would have seriously regretted it! Watch out folks, these scammers can cause a right mess.

Got a dodgy call earlier today, some automated voice claiming to be from the HMR office, saying it was urgent and I needed to call back to avoid legal trouble. Wasn't near a pen so didn’t jot down the number, but after checking here, it’s clear it was a scam. Seriously, something has got to be done about these calls fast before more folks get tricked.

Just got a prerecorded call from abroad. They were saying something like "This is important, HMIR have a big case against you, prison time if you don’t call Lisa on 0203…" couldn’t hear the full number tho. Finished with “have a blessed day” which made me laugh! Looks like the same number that someone else mentioned here yesterday. Can’t block it as its an international number. What creeps!

I got a recorded call claiming to be from HM Revenue and Customs (which is definitely a lie!). It told me to ring back that number immediately, saying it was a urgent warning with a time limit. It’s clearly a scam. I’ve been poorly for years and haven’t worked or paid tax in two decades, plus all my tax stuff was dealt with way back in 1997! The number they gave was 02031297461.

My husband got a scary automated call saying he had to do something quickly. I tried calling them back myself but they just hung up when they realised I wasn’t him. I phoned again, demanding to know what it was all about and once more they just ended the call on me. Then another recorded message came through, so I did some digging and found out it was probably a scam. I gave them another ring and this time I was pretty firm and rude. Haven’t had any bother since!

I got a ring on 10th July 2017 from someone saying they were from HMRC and that there was a lawsuit being taken out against me. I asked to speak to the person handling my case by pressing one, and the woman who answered said she was with HMRC. I then asked for her name to check it, since I actually work there too. Funny enough, she just ended the call straight away!

Got a call from 01634 286346 on my home phone around 3.40pm on 29/6/17. It was some kind of HMRC scam. The voicemail was robotic and said it was Customs, threatening to sue me. Then it told me to press 1 to talk to a caseworker. Felt dodgy right away.

Got a call earlier from a woman saying she was from the tax office. She claimed there was some kind of lawsuit against me for unpaid taxes and that I had a warrant out for my arrest. It started as an automated message, then it asked me to press 1 to talk to my case officer. I did, but when I told them I had no idea what they were on about, she just cut the call. The number that popped up was 02038073161. I checked with BT and they confirmed it’s definitely a scam.

Got a call earlier from a very similar number - 02031296765. The person said they were from 'HM Customs' and wanted me or my lawyer to get in touch with them. I just hung up straight away. HMRC, or as they officially call themselves HM Revenue and Customs, would never ring you out of the blue. I’ve spent a decade working in money advice, so I always advise folks to challenge callers to give some unique detail only a genuine official would know, like your NI number or birthday. Don’t hand over any info yourself; just ask them instead, and they usually hang up sharpish.

Got the exact call back on 2nd June 2017. Being retired from the civil service, I’m well aware HMRC doesn’t ring you up - they always send letters instead. So, when they told me to press 1, I just ended the call straight away.

For a couple of days I kept getting an automated message claiming to be from HMRC, saying they had opened a case against me. The first time I missed the call because my 11-year-old granddaughter grabbed the phone. I then checked the number with 1471 and saw it was 020033222460. I rang back and stayed silent on the line. After a bit, someone answered with a “hello” which I didn’t respond to. Ignoring the voice, that sounded either Scottish or maybe from Pakistan, seemed to annoy them because they abruptly said, “Please pick up the phone!” I just hung up straight away after that.

Got three calls from HMRC in just two hours yesterday - one was from a number blocked, another was from abroad, and the last one came from 02031-296618. Each time they said I needed to ring back urgently. I checked with HMRC directly and they confirmed they never get in touch like that, so I just ignored them.
